Historia
There are few people Nero Wolfe respects, and Lon Cohen of the New York Gazette is one of them. So when Cohen asks for a favor, Wolfe is inclined to listen. According to Cohen, someone wants to kill the Gazette's gossip columnist, Cameron Clay. Death threats are a regular hazard for Clay, who's hurled insults and accusations at every bold-faced name in the five boroughs. But the latest threats have carried a more sinister tone. The columnist has narrowed his potential killers down to five people.

Read it if you wish, but don't listen!
Revisado: 04-21-18
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I can't imagine who would enjoy this, or how this reader was hired, or who could have approved him. It clearly wasn't anyone who had listened to the original recordings by Mr. Prichard. Even the readings by Mr. Gancer, inferior as they were, weren't offensive, as these are.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I couldn't make it to the ending. After just a few chapters I gave up on the Audible version. The written version, as others have noted, is disappointing in comparison to prior books, but it was tolérable.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
His portrayals bore no resemblance to either how the characters were described in the books or how they were portrayed in the original audible series...nor even in the high-quality tv series with Timothy Hutton and Maury Chaykin. I won't buy another Audible book read by him.
What character would you cut from Stop the Presses!?
Aside from the reader, none were both objectionable and disposable
Any additional comments?
Please replace the narrator in future books. I'll be skipping the next two, which are already out, and hope they will go back to one of the prior two narrators or someone else for the books coming after The Battered Badge.

Historia
The Greater Journey is the enthralling, inspiring - and until now, untold - story of the adventurous American artists, writers, doctors, politicians, architects, and others of high aspiration who set off for Paris in the years between 1830 and 1900, ambitious to excel in their work.

Narrator made listening painful
Revisado: 08-17-15
Would you try another book from David McCullough and/or Edward Herrmann?
By the author, yes we will.
Would you be willing to try another one of Edward Herrmann’s performances?
Never. My husband and I tried to listen on a car trip but had to stop for fear of being put to sleep while driving. Tried speeding up to 1.25 - still no good - even to 1.5 speed, then gave up and am returning the audible book.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
We'll be reading it ourselves, as the narration was so bad that even speeding it up didn't make listening bearable.
Any additional comments?
Neither of us can understand why, with so many talented narrators available, a good book was ruined by a truly bad narrator choice. I'm returning it as we couldn't make it past the first 15 minutes. Such a disappointment.

In this sizzling tale, young Miles Cavanagh becomes the improbable guardian to Felicity Monahan, a wealthy, headstrong heiress who seems set on marrying an unscrupulous cad who clearly only wants to wed Felicity for one reason - and that reason is not love.

Ltd by weak character development; poor narration
Revisado: 02-22-12
Would you try another book from Jo Beverley and/or Emily Gray?
Will try another book from Beverley, but not from Gray if it contains strong accents and high-pitched womens'/girls' voices for more than a brief appearance.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Emily Gray?
Someone who doesn't think a young woman needs to sound this obnoxiously shrill and intellectually obtuse.
Did Dangerous Joy inspire you to do anything?
Screen narration more carefully.
Any additional comments?
Nobody falls in love in a matter of days. Lust, yes, but love takes more time and, thus, greater character development.
Don't write that a young woman is smart and courageous when she acts and speaks as a slightly stupid and always shrill girl.

Historia
In this Hugo-winner from Connie Willis, when too many jumps back to 1940 leave 21st century Oxford history student Ned Henry exhausted, a relaxing trip to Victorian England seems the perfect solution. But complexities like recalcitrant rowboats, missing cats, and love at first sight make Ned's holiday anything but restful - to say nothing of the way hideous pieces of Victorian art can jeopardize the entire course of history.

Highly recommended

A complex story that slowly builds up steam and is well worth the investment of time. Narrator was wonderful! Truly talented!!!
Most characters enjoyable, or dislikable as they were meant to be. The dog could have had a larger part, and Tossie was truly obnoxious 95% of the time; Verité was a pleasure. I'll look for this author's next book with pleasurable anticipation.
