Compelling content
Revisado: 02-20-17
Although excellent content, this audio book is not a training "course" in my opinion. It repeatedly makes reference to a "workbook" but there is no workbook accompanying this audio book. Also, no can be "trained" to do anything simply by listening to a subject matter expert speak from their knowledge. Rather, people actually have to apply knowledge by practicing what the instructor is teaching. It's misleading to refer to an audio book as a training course. All said, the content is excellent and worthwhile.

Historia
Many horse trainers, even those who espouse the so-called natural horsemanship approach, take the position that horses who fail to obey a human's request are doing so as much out of perversity as ignorance. That's not Mark Rashid's view. In his words, "If we understand that horses can't separate the way they feel from the way they act, then we can start to see that unwanted behavior isn't bad behavior at all. More times than not, it's just the horse expressing the way he feels at that particular moment in time....

Always something to learn from Rashid

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Rashid's approach is so authentic and genuine. I appreciate his humble manner and the way he stops to question the root of an issue rather than simply applying a familiar solution. He really stands out as a fresh thinking clinician with respectful regard for each horse an an individual. He is consistent in his approach yet open to change when necessary.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Whole Heart, Whole Horse?
The story of "the Black" which underscored the title and core message of the book.

Compelling and rich!
Revisado: 12-04-15
What an incredible tale told from the perspectives of four different heroines. The way the story was constructed kept me engaged from beginning to end as each heroine's contribution revealed deeper layers of a complex story. The rich tapestry of words created vivid pictures of the main characters, powerfully bringing them to life in a way that evoked both curiosity and compassion. Excellent work from this author!
