Historia
The Great Depression was not a crisis for capitalism but merely an example of the downturn part of the business cycle, which was generated by government intervention in the economy. Had this book appeared in the 1940s, it might have spared the world much grief. Even so, its appearance in 1963 meant that free-market advocates had their first full-scale treatment of this crucial subject.

Keynesians demolished
Revisado: 10-26-22
All of the general rhetoric around the Great Depression is dismantled in great detail by Rothbard in this book. Hoover in his own words talks about his unprecedented interventions. Rothbard does a great job of explaining how said interventions wreck everything.

Historia
In a scrap heap within an abandoned factory, the greatest invention in history lies dormant and unused. By what fatal error of judgment has its value gone unrecognized, its brilliant inventor punished rather than rewarded for his efforts? In defense of those greatest of human qualities that have made civilization possible, one man sets out to show what would happen to the world if all the heroes of innovation and industry went on strike.

Deserves more than one listen
Revisado: 07-17-22
I’ve now read and/or listened to this book around 20 times over many years. The first time through it can be difficult to keep all the characters straight & it’s easy to miss some of of the foreshadowing which makes parts of the love story feel a bit disconnected. But with subsequent reads it only becomes fuller & richer & more amazing. Incredible how relevant it all is today.
