Historia
No one remembered when he'd come to the mountains - it seemed that Preacher had always been there. He'd seen a great deal in the unmapped mountains and forests of the grand North American frontier. In fact, he'd just told a friend that he wasn't surprised by anything anymore. But Preacher hadn't seen Nova Roma yet. Suddenly, Preacher is faced with the strangest, most dangerous army the High Lonesome has ever seen. It's leader is a blood-mad fanatic right out of the ancient history books. All Preacher's got on his side are his brother mountain men.

weird story line, too unbelievable
Revisado: 03-29-25
Really like the Preacher stories but this one is just too fetched to believe. The Roman city thing in the middle of the wildness with hundreds of people just not believable in the 1840's. first of the preacher stories that I really didn't like

Annoying lead character in silly romance story
Revisado: 11-27-24
The main character goes bad in time to try to improve her life as she has failed business and love relationship. During the story, you quickly learn why her life is a mess as she is extremely self-centered and all about her problems. She is whinny and lacks any real introspection into the people in her that she supposably cares about. She misses key points about her grandmother, boyfriend, and best friends because she is too focused on her own problems. The boyfriend isn't much better as he has personal issues that he can't share or open up about but at least he does try to help and please her. The whole story highlights one of the biggest problems in our society today... "the me attitude". It's all about my issues and not much about caring or giving to others. The do figure it out in the end and become supportive of each other but by the end of the story, you really don't care or even like them much so it just becomes a really unsatisfying story.

too confusing, boring narration, couldn't finish
Revisado: 10-04-24
The story is too hard to follow as goes back from high school time to present with each chapter. Too many characters so hard to decide who is main character and most important. the relationship between characters is unclear. Most importantly is fact that none of the characters are likable, just don't care what happened to any of them. I generally can finish any book even if not that good but this book is the first "included Audible book" that I couldn't finish and removed from my library. Just horrible and poorly written.

Odd murder mystery with love story
Revisado: 08-09-24
So this Author has series of murde mysteries with love stories in each book. Overall, the murders tend to be very outrageous and get worse in each book, lots of blood and body parts cut up. The love stories between the main characters have lots of detailed sex. The police, FBI, etc can never figure out who the murderer is. Seems that with all the killing, the murderer never leaves any evidence or DNA behind, even after cutting up the victim. But somehow and often by just dumb luck, the main characters figure out who the murderer is, generally after he almost kills the heroine of the story. But the in end, murderer is killed and the hero and heroine find true love, get married and have lots of great sex. This authors stories are just unbelievable and still predictable but they are free with Audible So I listen lots of bad but free Audible books to fill my travel time. But I would never waste my monthly credit on a book by this author.

unbelievablely bad story, horrible narrator
Revisado: 08-09-24
First off, the story is supposed to be around 2007 in a small southern town, where everyone knows everyone and they are all really regelious, so the story is filled over done stereotype. The narrator voice is grating and her southern accents are terrible. Then the plot is just unbelievable and down right stupid. But if you like love stories where the gal gets her true love combined with a ridiculous murder mystery, then this might be enjoyable. But the death by fire in the righteous name of God while everyone is a sinner and hypocrite becomes annoying. The author tries to keep you guessing the identity of the killer with clues that other characters are the murderer but of course the character that appears to be least likely to kill is the killer. You u just know it. all along and the twists that trying to throw you off her identity becomes annoying. The worse part of the story is the stereotypical belief that everyone in a small southern town is overly judgemental, religious and out of touch with modern times is stupid. Just not true anymore, as life is complex and stupid stereotypes like in this story just help to cause division in our country.

Totally unbelievable plot with graphic violence
Revisado: 08-05-24
There is absolutely No way that FBI and local police cannot find evidence about the sicko killer in these Griffin Powell stories. The killer keeps out smarting them while the hero and heroine have too many issues to focus on catching the villain. The crimes are graphical violent while the sex between the hero and heroine is very detailed and excessive. So at some point you just want to gag and hit the lead characters as they are so overly dramatic. By the finally excepted ending, you really don't even like th characters. Poorly planned plot and just Ugh.

very dark and unfilling, hard to finish
Revisado: 06-15-24
what happened to the main character in this series. supposed to be about retired detective and his girlfriend also retired police officer who start PI business to solve mysteries crimes and murders, but they are just minor characters in this story. The plot is totally about some other retired police officer dealing with his wife mental illness which he does poorly at. Doesn't get her help and fails at end
Depressing overly long story that has no mystery or excitement. Overall boring and not well written.

Very annoying lead character, bad narrator
Revisado: 05-20-24
This is probably the worst of the "cozy mysteries" that I have listened to. The heroine of the story is so whiny and self centered it is beyond belief. why do the authors always seem to make their heroine so annoying as I believe most women are not so stupid. I am giving up on these types of books even all the free ones. Of course there is reason they are free as terribly written and just unbelievable.

Just awful lead character so unlikable
Revisado: 04-30-24
Very predictable story, the lead character is stupid, whiny and annoying beyond belief. This series of soft woman mysteries is the worse of the free Audibles that I have listened to. Even after the fourth free listen, I still don't like the main character as she doesn't seem to get any smarter or wiser just more self centered and complaintly with each book.
