Interesting story filled with current events!
Revisado: 07-17-19
If you like stories mixing current day events and Biblical themes, you’ll probably enjoy this book. But if you’re used to good narrations, you’ll want to read it rather than listen. I wish they’d selected a professional reader because it’s not the author’s gift. But he does write a good story about Jewish/Arab struggles and includes lots of historical and current day info about Israel. Any book that helps me understand better God’s plan through Jews and Israel makes a worthwhile read for me!

Enjoyable AND Educational!
Revisado: 07-12-19
I loved leaning more about the complexity of Middle East perspectives while reading a captivating story that centers around my favorite country, Israel ! I'm really looking forward to the sequel so I can enjoy more of the intrigue and inspiring characters Whitlow writes about . However, I hope they select a different narrator or I’ll probably opt for reading the book instead of listening. Although she reads clearly, there is hardly any expression or emotion and no attempt to distinguish characters. This means you have to work very hard at listening in order to decipher who is speaking. I only endured because I liked the story so much and didn’t have the time to sit and read the book.

Male narrator for woman?
Revisado: 05-27-19
I actually cannot give this book a full review since I was unable to finish it. But it sounded like a great storyline. Because they had selected a male narrator for some reason, it was very confusing to me and I had to stop listening.

Historia
A successful LA artist, Roman Velasco appears to have everything he could possibly want - money, women, fame. Only Grace Moore, his reluctant, newly hired personal assistant, knows how little he truly has. The demons of Roman's past seem to echo through the halls of his empty mansion and out across his breathtaking Topanga Canyon view. But Grace doesn't know how her boss secretly wrestles with those demons: by tagging buildings as the Bird, a notorious but unidentified graffiti artist - an alter ego that could destroy his career and land him in prison.

Another inspiring tale by Francine
Revisado: 03-16-18
She’s done it again! I love how Francine develops characters that teach and inspire me in my Christian journey. And with such interesting and entertaining storylines. Hated when I had to pause my listening! My husband was even captivated by the story and finished it before I did!

Exciting story if you can endure the reader
Revisado: 03-31-17
Unfortunately, as others have said, the reading is very stilted and unnatural and can ruin the experience. But if you're patient and really want to hear a great story, then speed it up to 1.25 and it will be worth it.

You will learn of a simple man's life totally devoted to the adventure of following God whole heartedly and you'll possibly never see the world the same.
This narrator was one of the most excellent readers I've experienced. Flawless and very enjoyable to listen to.

Historia
Jesus of Nazareth's announcement that he is the Messiah has blazed through Jerusalem and the surrounding countryside like wildfire. As he travels through Galilee, the crowds follow him, witnessing miracles and healings. Jesus teaches the parable of the lost sheep and the return of the prodigal son. He walks on the water. But discipleship to Jesus the Messiah has come at a high price for both Simeon and Miriam.

Good story!
Revisado: 09-30-16
I was excited to find Gerald Lund's 2nd book in the series become available since I'd enjoyed the characters and the story of his first one, Fishers of Men. I love reading stories that help my understanding of what it may have been like to be living when Jesus lived, so it doesn't have to be a great story for me to enjoy it. It was an interesting story because of the variety of characters and perspectives so I did enjoy it.
I appreciate Lund's expressed attempt to be accurate to the text. However, in this quest, he chose to quote from the King James Version when Jesus speaks. That really bothered me because I'm pretty sure they did not speak 16th century English in those days, and it makes Jesus' conversations with ordinary people sound so stilted and formal instead of casual and natural, which is much more likely.
This is not my favorite narrator because he also speaks unnaturally... Very slow and deliberate, with long pauses, even in casual conversations. He has a nice reading voice to listen too, but I didn't like the way he did character voices, especially women and villains.

Starts slow, ends well
Revisado: 09-24-15
I felt like the beginning took a long time establishing "what is the soul," but maybe that was helpful for some.
Last half was excellent and inspiring.
