Historia
The most important rule for an Apprentice Consul is simple: Don't get involved with daemons. Well, Piper is planning to break that rule - big time. After a near-deadly scandal with the Sahar Stone, she has the chance to return to the only life she's ever wanted. All she has to do to keep her Apprenticeship is forget about Ash and Lyre. Ash might be enigmatic and notoriously lethal, and Lyre might be as sinfully irresistible as he is irritating, but they're not bad for a couple of daemons.

Strength of the Characters
Revisado: 02-07-25
on a different site, I read a review which complained about the "whiny heroine".
I don't know what book she read,... because I found the strength of the heroine to be solid.
It was a great listen from beginning to end!

Great story!! I can't wait for the next book!
Revisado: 09-26-23
I am totally loving this series.
The writing and storytelling are imaginative without losing the reader.
This book can easily be enjoyed as a stand-alone.
Although, for ultimate enjoyment, I highly recommend reading the entire series in order.
Don't let the length of the book discourage you from it. Its length is actually a bonus to the reader!
This narrator is not one of my favorites. After a few chapters, the storyline makes you forget (almost completely) the lack luster, almost flat narration.

Great plot line
Revisado: 05-30-22
I enjoyed this book immensely!
So much so, at night, I would go to sleep only after finishing the Chapter I was listening to.
This usually meant, I got in bed, pop in an earbud & set the sleep timer on the Audiobook.
The next day, before I continued with the book, I re-listen to the last Chapter I finished the day before. Then I continue listening to the rest of the book.
That's how great this book is!
The only negative I have, is with the narrator.
This person has narrated the entire "Lucy Kincaid" series.
From the very 1st "Lucy Kincaid" Audiobook, I could heard the narrator's limited range of unique, distinct & believable voices for each of the characters
This made listening distracting, sometimes confusing & it interfered with listening to the flow of the story.
After listening to the previous books, the narrator has obviously become the voice of Lucy Kincaid, and does a great job with her.
As I've listened to more of the series, the narrator's lack of ability to "do" other characters voices is glaringly obvious!
I find it distracting when listening to a book from later in the series, & find myself thinking, "That voice sounds like so & so from a previous Audiobook."
Listening to the series, the Author, has developed the characters stories, added more great characters, who are more complex, and made the stories more complex. The narrator has not done the same!!
To my ear, there are several characters who to only sound the same, but also like characters in previous novels.
Each time I have to figure out which character is saying what line,...
I'm completely taken out of the story!
It's unfortunate because the voice of Lucy Kincaid is spot on, it's the other voices that are the issue.

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

This memoir is the story of what McCain learned from his grandfather and father, and how their example enabled him to endure those hard years. It is a story of three imperfect men who faced adversity and emerged with their honor intact. Ultimately, Faith of My Fathers is a story of fathers and sons, what they give each other and what endures.

A must read! A man of true character & substance!
Revisado: 07-28-18
This is a man of true character and moral conviction. From a generation that is almost lost to us now. There will never be another one like it.
John McCain has written and narrated a brilliant, brutally honest, self realized story of his life up until he was released from a POW Camp during the Vietnam War.
He speaks about his the love of our Nation, his family's long history of Military service to our Nation, and self sacrifice for the greater good.
How he survived being shot down, gravely injured, captured, tortured, a POW for 5+ years, and maintained his humanity. Well, that is a credit to his parents, family, teachers, his fellow prisoners of war, his Faith and himself.
What a great man, WHAT A GREAT MAN, I don't think I can stop saying that.
This is the person, that we should have running our country.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
