Historia
Regent Academy has a long and storied history in Winslow, Vermont, as does the forest that surrounds it. The school is known for molding teens into leaders, but its history is far more nefarious. Seventeen-year-old Douglas Jones wants nothing to do with Regent's king-making; he’s just trying to survive. But then a student is murdered and, for some reason, by the next day no one remembers him having ever existed, except for Douglas and the groundskeeper's son, Everett Everley.

The ending made me angry (Contains Spoiler)
Revisado: 11-26-24
Really interesting book. Enjoyed Douglas as a character, and his story arc.
I really dislike one aspect of the ending, though, so spoiler here. I thought that the memory wiping of his mom went against the message of the book. Having the ability to make your own choices was like a huge part, and Douglas understood that when it came to Everett deciding to stay. But when it comes to his mom, he makes the decision to complete erase any memory of him and his father. He doesn’t get her consent. It isn’t what she wants. Yet, he makes a huge decision for her, and erases half of her life. Presumably the two people she loves the most. It just really upset me a lot that this is how his relationship ended with his mom, and I felt like it didn’t fit with the themes of the book.

Historia
Dearie and Cole are inseparable, unlikeable, and (in bad luck for them) totally unbelievable. From the day they met, Dearie and Cole have been two against the world. But whenever something bad happens at Stone Grove High School, they get blamed. Why? They’re beautiful, flirtatious, dangerously clever queen bees, and they’re always ready to call out their fellow students. But they’ve never faced a bigger threat than surviving senior year, when Mr. Sandman, a famous, never-caught serial killer emerges from a long retirement—and his hunting ground is their school Queer Club.

Amazing depiction of teen friendship
Revisado: 11-05-24
What made the story for me was the friendship of Cole and Frankie. Like all friendships, it had its troubles, but they found ways to show they loved each other. Heartwarming story <3

It’s been hundreds of years since King Arthur’s reign. His descendant, Arthur, a future Lord and general gadabout, has been betrothed to Gwendoline, the quick-witted, short-tempered princess of England, since birth. The only thing they can agree on is that they despise each other. They’re forced to spend the summer together at Camelot in the run up to their nuptials, and within 24 hours, Gwen has discovered Arthur kissing a boy and Arthur has gone digging for Gwen's childhood diary and found confessions about her crush on the kingdom's only lady knight, Bridget Leclair.

Realistic Slow Burn

I really enjoyed how deeply complex the emotions were among the many characters. Romance didn’t seem forced without reason which I enjoyed.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

This novel sheds light on the many ways that mental illnesses can manifest, and describes their reach on everyone around you.

Characters felt real

Each character felt fleshed out with their own desires, flaws and quirks. This made me care about the ending and made for a beautiful book.

Surprisingly fun story
Revisado: 07-27-23
I would say I wasn’t sure what I was getting in for with such a long book but I really enjoyed the build up and the characters.
Only one downside I found and this contains a spoiler, I wish the big final vampire would have been dealt with or even mentioned by the main characters. He went untouched.
Other than that I found it a very good book and loved seeing the vampire get what was coming.

September. A beautiful New York editor retreats to a lonely cabin on a hill in the quiet Maine beach town of Dead River - off season - awaiting her sister and friends. Nearby, a savage human family with a taste for flesh lurks in the darkening woods, watching, waiting for the moon to rise and night to fall.

All the gore you could want
Revisado: 06-22-23
I really enjoyed how unexpected so much of this novel was. The first two deaths especially took me by surprise.
Story wise, I do feel the cops story line could have been expanded on.
The main reason I read this however, was for some extremely brutally deaths. And I got more gore than I ever expected. Absolutely loved it.
