We love Stories Podcast and we love this audiobook!

My 4 year old and 6 year old were entranced by this book, just as they are by the Stories Podcast (which is written and performed mainly by the same people as this book). My kids will be bouncing off the seats, fighting and yelling in the backseat, but as soon as I put on Amanda Weldin reading a Daniel Hinds story, they are mesmerized. It's like audio Valium or something. And the story is entertaining enough for parents, too, to not go bonkers!

I'm a big fan of survivor stories such as those on the Discovery channel, so I thought this book would be enthralling. However, I found it hard to get into and hard to follow (possibly because my mind kept wandering), at least for the first third of the book. If you're looking for entertaining survivor stories and you want to give this one a try, I'd skip part 1 and start with part 2. Even then, it's still a little dry.
Other survivor stories I'd recommend include Life of Pi (fiction) and Over the Edge (non-fiction).

if you love the yankees or the red sox -- or just a good story about baseball -- you gotta listen to this. no other book out there takes you behind the scenes in the greatest rivalry in sports like this one.
