Historia
Melody is not like most people. She cannot walk or talk, but she has a photographic memory; she can remember every detail of everything she has ever experienced. She is smarter than most of the adults who try to diagnose her and smarter than her classmates in her integrated classroom - the very same classmates who dismiss her as mentally challenged because she cannot tell them otherwise. But Melody refuses to be defined by cerebral palsy.

Historia
A fifteen-year-old teenager is the backbone of her small Midwestern family, budgeting the household finances and raising her younger brother while her mom, a talented artist, weaves beautiful tapestries. For six years, it’s been just the three of them—her mom has brought home guests at times, but none have ever stayed. Yet when her mom brings home a six-foot tall crane with a menacing air, the girl is powerless to prevent her mom letting the intruder into her heart, and her children’s lives.

Not for kids
Revisado: 12-28-23
This was an interesting book. Dark and sad, but we didn’t want to stop listening. My kids and I have enjoyed Kelly Barnhill’s other audio books, unfortunately I didn’t realize that this one is much more adult oriented for the sexual content. I did appreciate the strength that the main character showed in many situations. It gave us the opportunity to talk about saying “no” and being treated kindly by others. We turned it into a learning opportunity.

Terrible narration
Revisado: 07-19-22
I am reading this book in paperback. I asked my husband to listen to it since he drives a lot for work, so we could “read” it together and discuss for parenting our kids. He apologized after trying to listen, saying he just couldn’t focus on the book. I just finished a long drive where I decided to listen to the next chapter instead of reading, since we’d already paid for the book in our account.
The. Narration. Is. Terrible.
Ohmygosh I feel like I need a nap after listening. It’s read SO SLOWLY. It’s SO BORING. The female narrator sounds like she’s slurring and has no voice inflection. I don’t know how the book got any good performance reviews.
The book is worth reading but they really should have found someone else to perform it.

Historia
The Penderwick Sisters are home on Gardam Street and ready for an adventure! But the adventure they get isn't quite what they had in mind. Mr. Penderwick's sister has decided it's time for him to start dating, and the girls know that can only mean one thing: disaster. Enter the Save-Daddy Plan, a plot so brilliant, so bold, so funny that only the Penderwick girls could have come up with it. It's high jinks, big laughs, and loads of family warmth as the Penderwicks triumphantly return.

Nice story, good performance
Revisado: 07-24-21
A feel good story! Content includes romance and young love, just a heads up for the younger audience. Wish we had listened to the one prior to this one first where they rent a cottage, it was mentioned repeatedly in this book.

Touching story
Revisado: 08-02-18
Our six year old was struggling with being kind to others, so this book caught my attention. I expected a “chapter book”, but this book is very short. However, it is a wonderful story and message, and the reader does an excellent job. We’ve listened to it over and over....my daughter has asked for a speaker on her room so she can play it for her and her friends. I’ve offered to buy her the book, but she wants the audio. I don’t know if I can credit this book alone, but I’ve seen more of an effort on her part and I’ll take what I can get. 😊
