Historia
What do you think of when you hear the name “Ebenezer Scrooge”? Mean, greedy old man haunted by three ghosts one Christmas night, right? Well, what if what we’ve been told, while not being entirely wrong also wasn’t entirely right, either? Ready for the truth?

Actually did a good job with this one
Revisado: 01-13-25
I have read other books that were companions to A Christmas Carol in the past and been slightly disappointed. This book, however I thought did a really good job of mapping out the life of Ebeneezer Scrooge. It has a lot of sadness in it, which you should expect, but does a good job of explaining details of his life that only get touched on in the book or in the movies. Like the book has a heartwarming ending and puts out some pretty good possibilities of how Scrooge’s life could’ve gone after the visit from the three spirits. I know it’s fiction, but I kind of like how a story went with this one.

Historia
It’s Halloween night, 1984, in Coventry, Massachusetts, and two families are unraveling. Up and down the street, horrifying secrets are being revealed, and all the while, mixed in with the trick-or-treaters of all ages, four children who do not belong are walking door to door, merging with the kids of Parmenter Road. Children in vintage costumes with faded, eerie makeup. They seem terrified, and beg the neighborhood kids to hide them away, to keep them safe from The Cunning Man.

Fun story but too much man bashing
Revisado: 07-26-24
I enjoyed the story but didn’t enjoy hearing how horrible men are throughout the book.

Historia
Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, the third Roman Emperor, is better known by another name: Caligula, a name synonymous with decadence, cruelty and madness. His reign was marked by excess, huge building projects, the largest gladiatorial battles Rome was ever to see – men and animals killed in their hundreds – conspiracies, assassination attempts and sexual scandal.

I was expecting to learn the history of Caligula
Revisado: 05-11-23
Maybe it was my own lack of research before purchasing this book, but I was expecting the book to be more of a history of Caligula. This book although entertaining was pretty much all fiction. Now I feel I need to find another book That is actually the history of Caligula‘s rule.

Quite an amazing read
Revisado: 05-09-22
I’ve read a lot of true crime books but this one takes the cake. I had heard of Richard Kuklinski and knew he was a mafia hitman however I didn’t realize The extent of his path of destruction. I would recommend this book to anyone that reason studies true crime.

Historia
With its brilliant and brutal portrayal of the Corleone family, The Godfather burned its way into our national consciousness. This unforgettable saga of crime and corruption, passion and loyalty continues to stand the test of time, as the definitive novel of the Mafia underworld. A #1 New York Times bestseller in 1969, Mario Puzo's epic was turned into the incomparable film of the same name, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture. It is the original classic that has been often imitated, but never matched.

A little disappointed compared to previous books
Revisado: 02-11-18
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Honestly, it seems like maybe Preston and Child rushed this book. It seemed to lack a little bit of their usual detail and character development. As I was reading it seemed like I knew what was going to happen before it happened and it seemed to be missing some of the good stuff that the other Pendergast books contain.
Would you be willing to try another book from Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston ? Why or why not?
Yes, I love this series, I think that they just missed on this one.

I wasn't expecting the book to be about ETs
Revisado: 02-10-18
What would have made The Mothman Prophecies better?
I would like to have heard only the facts and history about mothman related incidents. It seems like this book turned into a rally for UFO and alien buffs. I'm not saying I believe or disbelieve in this subject, i'm just saying that it wasn't what I expected it to be.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It had great stories, I just didn't feel like the book was devoted to the mothman story
