Historia
Anthony Fauci is arguably the most famous–and most revered–doctor in the world today. His role guiding America sanely and calmly through Covid (and through the torrents of Trump) earned him the trust of millions during one of the most terrifying periods in modern American history, but this was only the most recent of the global epidemics in which Dr. Fauci played a major role. His crucial role in researching HIV and bringing AIDS into sympathetic public view and his leadership in navigating the Ebola, SARS, West Nile, and anthrax crises, make him truly an American hero.

Excellent ride through the contemporary history of most infectious disease related medical challenges from the 1950s through the COVID—19 pandemic presented by the person most intimately involved in managing all of them with the singular objective of protection of the global community!

Historia
In this poignant new story, A Gift from Bob, James Bowen recalls the last Christmas he was to spend on the streets, busking and selling the Big Issue with his cat Bob. In 2010, the weather was as bleak as his prospects. Christmas had always been the time he dreaded. Now at least he had Bob by his side, but his health was poor, and he had no money for food or warmth. There was no choice but to venture out onto the frozen streets to earn enough to pay for his electricity and - with luck - to afford some small treats for Christmas as well.

Historia
Since Bob has appeared, I've made huge strides in my life. For more than a decade I was a homeless drug addict. I was lost to the world and had forgotten what was important in life. Now I've got myself back on my two feet, but as I put the past behind me, I'm still stepping unsteadily into the future. I still need help in the right direction. Bob is always there to offer guidance and friendship.' James and his street cat Bob have been on a remarkable journey together

Historia
When street musician James Bowen found an injured cat curled up in the hallway of his apartment building, he had no idea how much his life was about to change. James was living hand to mouth on the streets of London, barely making enough money to feed himself - the last thing he needed was a pet. Yet, James couldn't resist helping the strikingly intelligent, but very sick animal, whom he named Bob. He slowly nursed Bob back to health and then sent the cat on his way, never imagining that he would see him again. But Bob had other ideas.

Historia
The longtime Republican strategist and number one New York Times best-selling author of Everything Trump Touches Dies is back with a guidebook for beating Trump’s tricks, traps, and Twitter feed in 2020. Donald Trump is exactly the disaster we feared for America. Hated by a majority of Americans, Trump’s administration is rocked by daily scandals, and he’s embarrassed us at home and abroad. Trump can’t win in 2020, right? Wrong. As 2016 proved, Trump can’t win, but the Democrats can sure as hell lose.

Unbelievable
Revisado: 05-10-19
Katy Tur did a very good job of describing her unique experience as a female journalist on the trail of Drumpf’s campaign. There was little I had not already learned from other books and news reports about Drumpf himself. However, the strength of Tur’s book is her specific reactions to the events and behavior of those on the campaign. I learned a great deal about the difficulties of being a political journalist in today’s world, especially for a female! Well worth a read!

Historia
Best-selling author, former White House speechwriter, and Atlantic columnist and media commentator David Frum explains why President Trump has undermined our most important institutions in ways even the most critical media has missed, in this thoughtful and hard-hitting book that is a warning for democracy and America's future. Quietly, steadily, Trump and his administration are damaging the tenets and accepted practices of American democracy, perhaps irrevocably.

Historia
Psychoanalyst Justin A. Frank takes a deep dive into the psyche of our president. Using observations gained from a close study of Trump's patterns of thought, action, and communication, Dr. Frank gives us a full portrait of the personality we saw on display during his remarkable campaign and helps us understand what has driven the decision-making during his first years in office. The result is filled with important revelations about our nation's leader and disturbing insights into his childhood, his family, his business dealings, and his unusual relationship with alternative facts.

Scary
Revisado: 04-03-19
I’ve read several books about Trump and the current administration. However, this was one of the scariest. Just to imagine this man with access to the nuclear codes is enough to cause terminal insomnia. And that is just one example. I understand that a definitive psychiatric diagnosis may be difficult or even impossible without directly communicating with the subject. But, if Dr Frank is just 10% correct, this book alone should suggest that we need somebody else in the White House. I won’t bore the reader with a diatribe about all the complicit people who support or fail to stand up to him. Suffice it to say that Trump represents the single biggest danger to this country and the world than we hav experienced in decades.

Historia
In White Trash, Nancy Isenberg upends assumptions about America's supposedly class-free society. Poor whites were central to the rise of the Republican Party in the early 19th century, and the Civil War itself was fought over class issues nearly as much as it was fought over slavery. Reconstruction pitted poor white trash against newly freed slaves, which factored in the rise of eugenics. These poor were at the heart of New Deal reforms and LBJ's Great Society; they haunt us in reality TV shows like Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and Duck Dynasty.

Trash talk
Revisado: 03-26-19
A very good review of class and race in the US, from its long historical perspective. Having read this book, after Hillbilly Elegy, I now have better understanding of how Trump was able to harness the hate and frustration of those who consider themselves the disenfranchised. Little do they know, however, as demonstrated by White Trash, that they are unlikely to take delivery of things promised!

Historia
American diplomacy is under siege. Offices across the State Department sit empty while abroad, the military-industrial complex has assumed the work once undertaken by peacemakers. We're becoming a nation that shoots first and asks questions later. In an astonishing account ranging from Washington, DC, to Afghanistan, Pakistan, and North Korea in the years since 9/11, acclaimed journalist and former diplomat Ronan Farrow illuminates one of the most consequential and poorly understood changes in American history.

Required reading for the Trump administration
Revisado: 05-17-18
Mr Farrow’s incredibly well researched account of the history (and likely future) of American diplomacy is quite dense in detail. If that seems a negative characteristic, it will be the only one in this review.
One could perceive a “Cliff notes” version of the message of the book by reading only the Prologue and the Epilogue. If one has a bit more time, read Part III also. However, to do so would prevent one from appreciating the rich depth and detail of the content within the chapters of Parts II and III (a testament to the exhaustive research effort represented by Farrow’s work).
In the end, the message of this work is a scary prediction of the dangerous road that this country is headed down, unless the fractious political situation cannot be compromised by some renewed appreciation for decency, integrity, honesty, and.........diplomacy!
