Historia
Millions of people climb the grand marble staircase to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art every year. But only a select few have unrestricted access to every nook and cranny. They’re the guards who roam unobtrusively in dark blue suits, keeping a watchful eye on the two million square foot treasure house. Caught up in his glamourous fledgling career at The New Yorker, Patrick Bringley never thought that he’d be one of them.

Unremarkable. I guess the message was art heals, but no real motivation to keep reading….

Historia
From New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Freida McFadden comes the next installment of the unbelievably twisty, tension-packed and globally bestselling Housemaid series. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone listen: and once you start, it will have you up all night until the final explosive twist.

The obvious, clumsy amount of misdirection.
Revisado: 07-25-24
After reading the two previous Housemaid books, Millie was starting to get on my nerves with her unbelievably poor judgement. It is hard to like to like or even be interested in a character who jumps to every unlikely conclusion just to make the plot seem complex. The problem for me with this series was that Millie was a drag.

Historia
Novelist J.B. Blackwood is on a cruise with her husband, Patrick, to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Her former professor, film director, and cult figure, Patrick is much older than J.B. When they met, he seemed somehow ageless, as all gods appear in the eyes of those who worship them. But now his success is starting to wane, and J.B. is on the cusp of winning a major literary prize. Her art has been forever overseen by him, now it may overshadow his.

Lovely writing…..
Revisado: 10-11-23
I was tired of this heroine’s total lack of self awareness, her poor choices and her total inability to deal with the consequences by the fifth chapter. The author goes on and on (in beautifully written sentences) until I lost the significance of what she was trying to say. I felt I had wasted my time.

Historia
In the unbearable heat of another sultry Washington, D.C., summer, a serial killer is on the loose. Dr. Tess Court, one of the capital’s most successful psychiatrists, wants nothing to do with the case—until the police convince her to lend a hand to the lead investigator, legendary ladies’ man Detective Ben Paris. Scarred by his family’s history, Ben has even less use for shrinks than Tess has for him—but the forces of animal magnetism and a shared desire to catch the demented criminal known as “The Priest” inexorably erode the walls they’ve built.

Poor performance
Revisado: 07-20-23
The story was OK, but the male voices sounded like thirteen year olds and it was hard to believe any sexual passion or suspense was generated in that setting. I have loved Nora Roberts books for years, but this was subpar.

Historia
No visitors. No nights spent away from the apartment. No disturbing the other residents, all of whom are rich or famous or both. These are the only rules for Jules Larsen’s new job as an apartment sitter at the Bartholomew, one of Manhattan's most high-profile and mysterious buildings. As she gets to know the residents and staff of the Bartholomew, Jules finds herself drawn to fellow apartment sitter Ingrid. When Ingrid confides that the Bartholomew is not what it seems, Jules brushes it off as a harmless ghost story...until the next day, when Ingrid disappears.

Bad Title
Revisado: 07-14-23
The story progressed with well ordered if somewhat predictable suspense and was a great summer read. In general I don’t like “wimpy women”, but Jules had a lot of baggage and redeemed herself by the end.

So begins a press release from a mysterious group known only as “The Five,” shortly after a vicious predator is murdered in San Francisco. The Five is made up of vigilante killers who are very bored…and very rich. They target the worst of society—rapists, murderers, and thieves—and then use their unlimited resources to offset the damage done by those who they’ve killed, donating untraceable Bitcoin to charities and victims via the dark net. The Five soon become popular figures in the media …though their motives may not be entirely pure.

Really love Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers, and together is even better, but basic premise was just to goofy to get me seriously involved.

Well written engrossing mystery by this author, as always. Simon Vance is a magician at conveying the subtle atmosphere and emotions required by Peter Robinson’s story, and indeed by Inspector Banks himself.

Historia
April Clarke-Cliveden was the first person Hannah Jones met at Oxford. Vivacious, bright, occasionally vicious, and the ultimate It girl, she quickly pulled Hannah into her dazzling orbit. Together, they developed a group of devoted and inseparable friends—Will, Hugh, Ryan, and Emily—during their first term. By the end of the year, April was dead.

Slow
Revisado: 08-04-22
Plot progression was too slow to build the tension I was hoping for. Too wordy, too repetitive, and too predictable. What Will saw in Hannah I’ll never know. Half the time I wanted to slap her,
I gave it three stars because it is a cute story and a good beach read.

Enjoyed the story, the characters and the setting, but when ever Harry (the male love interest) spoke, he sounded like like an old woman with a stuffy nose!…. Made it difficult to get into the romance…
