Classic Story, Badly Read
Revisado: 07-17-08
What a shame that such a great and classic story is made dull, hard to follow and plain tedious by poor narration. None of the four readers was pleasant to listen to, sounding variously exhausted and whiney. Ugh - good thing I'd read the book already.

Un-Bloody Adventure with Class
Revisado: 07-17-08
I love the Sabatini stories, and this one is as good as, if not better than, Scaramouche. The narrator was superb and the story is classic good vs. evil, with satisfying twists and turns.

I read all the Christie books years ago, but Hugh Fraser's remarkable narration brings these wonderful, classic stories to life again. I am sure Agatha is listening and smiling from the grave!

The Unfinished Clue is a clever and humorous murder mystery set at a British country estate in the 1930s. There, each of the invited guests, along with the victim's wife and the estate's staff members (the butler, the maids, the gardener), had good reason to hate the arrogant and abrasive victim. What Fun!
Revisado: 04-09-08
I thought Georgette Heyer only wrote sappy romance novels that I wouldn't be caught dead reading. This light-hearted mystery is wry and charming and totally engaging. The narrator is excellent.

With swordfights and romance, adventure and treachery set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, this is the book that made Sabatini famous. Andre-Louis Moreau has good prospects as a young lawyer, but an unfair duel with the ruthlessly cruel Count de La Tour d'Azyr leaves Andre-Louis' best friend dead and Andre-Louis himself a fugitive from the King's justice. Deaf in Paradise!
Revisado: 03-05-08
The audio quality on this book is awful! It is very difficult just to hear the words. In addition, it sounds as though the narrator, Penny Fuller, an acclaimed actress, can barely get the words out.
