Historia
Near an isolated mansion lies a beautiful garden. In this garden grow luscious flowers, shady trees...and a collection of precious “butterflies” - young women who have been kidnapped and intricately tattooed to resemble their namesakes. Overseeing it all is the Gardener, a brutal, twisted man obsessed with capturing and preserving his lovely specimens.

Mind Blowing!!
Revisado: 08-01-16
There are no words to describe how awesome this book was. The writing was brilliant and flawless. The narrators were great!
I have to admit that you need to suspend reality a bit before getting into the book, but once you do, you will be hooked.
I was really struck by the contrast of the gorgeous garden, the girls and their tattoos with the horror of what was happening there.
I think Dot Hutchison is a rising star in the literary world. I will definitely read anything else she publishes.

Hope this will be a series
Revisado: 07-30-16
This was a good book that dealt with the psychological effects on family members when the whole family's world revolves around the success of one member. I found the information about gymnastics and the grueling routine of Olympic hopefuls fascinating. I feel the author really did her homework in this area.
I also thought the writing was impeccable. This was my first Megan Abbott book and I will certainly read others. She's very talented.

Brooklyn, 1947: In the midst of a blizzard, in a two-family brownstone, two babies are born minutes apart to two women. They are sisters by marriage, with an impenetrable bond forged before and during that dramatic night; but as the years progress, small cracks start to appear, and their once deep friendship begins to unravel. No one knows why, and no one can stop it. One misguided choice; one moment of tragedy. Heartbreak wars with happiness and almost but not quite wins.

Touching Family Saga
Revisado: 07-06-16
I really enjoyed this book. It's about choices people make and the unintended consequences. It's not hard to figure out the secret that drives the two mothers in this book. What makes this book great is the effects this secret has on many lives. How many choices have we made that we would change if we knew the outcome ahead of time?
If you like family dramas that make you think, you'll enjoy this book.

Revisado: 06-19-16
This book was not just good, it was crazy good. I can't go into too much detail because I don't want to give anything away. If you are suffering from Gone Girl withdrawal, clear your schedule for a whole day and read this book.
It really is that good!

As good as, if not better than Gone Girl
Revisado: 05-26-16
I really hate it when critics compare any psychological thriller that hits the market to Gone Girl because, up until now, I haven't read one that is as good as Gone Girl. This book has everything that a good thriller should: Great characters, turns you will not see coming, and a great ending.
I've read all of Ms. Kubica's books to date and they are all fantastic, however, this is definitely my favorite.
I highly recommend this book, just make sure you clear your schedule. You will not be able to stop reading or listening.
One last thing. I think this book could have a great prequel.

Wish I'd had time to listen in one sitting
Revisado: 05-24-16
This was a great book with enough twists and turns to make you want to keep reading. A few parts were predictable, but there was always something added to keep you guessing.
I also thought the characters were very well developed and seemed real.
Nicola Barber is one of my favorite narrators. She didn't disappoint in this book at all.
Highly recommend if you enjoy psychological tense novels that are hard to put down.

Gives You Lots to Think About
Revisado: 01-16-16
This book was so much better than I anticipated! I like books that delve into the psyche and explore different relationships. This book goes really deep into the relationship of mothers and their children. The title and the use of the phrase is also very clever.
I'm looking forward to seeing more from this author. She has lots of talent!

Sandra Dallas Never Fails
Revisado: 01-03-16
Another excellent book by Sandra Dallas. Her characters are always well drawn and plot has just enough of a twist to provide a few surprises.
If you've enjoyed Ms. Dallas' other books, this one will not disappoint. If you've never read her books, this one will be the first of many because you'll want more!

Hasn't gotten the recognition it deserves
Revisado: 12-27-15
This book was hard to put down. I'm really surprised that it isn't a #1 bestseller. You know from the description that it's about a boy who turns up missing and the media gets overly involved, pointing fingers at the mother and others. There's much more to this book than that. Surprising family secrets come out and just when you think you've solved it, another twist will come into play. You will keep guessing until the end!
If you like mysteries, this will be a great pick for you.

Still, her husband and daughter are horrified when Heidi returns home one day with a young woman named Willow and her four-month-old baby in tow. Disheveled and apparently homeless, this girl could be a criminal - or worse. But despite her family's objections, Heidi invites Willow and the baby to take refuge in their home.

Great Book. Excellent Narration
Revisado: 12-24-15
I really enjoyed this book - A LOT. I had read The Good Girl and also liked it, but I think this one is much better. It is very different and not nearly as predictable. There were quite a few turns that I did not see coming. The only complaint I have is that there didn't seem to be any closure for the Wood family.
I will definitely read Ms. Kubica's next book!
