Historia
On the eve of her ninth birthday, unassuming Rose Edelstein, a girl at the periphery of schoolyard games and her distracted parents’ attention, bites into her mother’s homemade lemon-chocolate cake and discovers she has a magical gift: she can taste her mother’s emotions in the cake. She discovers this gift to her horror, for her mother—her cheerful, good-with-crafts, can-do mother—tastes of despair and desperation. Suddenly, and for the rest of her life, food becomes a peril and a threat to Rose.

Incomplete ending
Revisado: 10-16-21
A very interesting concept but I don't understand how the brothers abilities were like hers and he grandfathers. I don't understand the father. This book was frustrating to listen to. The narrator did an amazing job but the book as a whole felt unfinished.

Wow! I don't know much about science
Revisado: 03-30-21
Wow! I don't know much about science but this book explained things in such a way that I didn't feel lost. Such an interesting take on how aliens would invade than the traditional blow 'em up, shoot 'em up styles in the past. This book is a great new era of combat and even hints at the current way countries are doing warfare beyond just the traditional boots on the ground.
The reader is great. His voices are consistent and he adds depth and character through his voice. Looking for more books that this reader has done now!

Eludes to something bigger with no pay off
Revisado: 11-18-20
Probably one of the almost boring reads I've ever had. thank goodness for a wonderfully done voice to read to me otherwise I wouldn't have read this book. While the characters were clearly flushed out the story was flat. It was like the writer just like Clive had this story in mind they wanted to tell and in the end flopped.

A wonderfully put together story
Revisado: 08-17-18
I love this book. the reader conveys such amazing emotions and you can really feel the gravity of what is going on in the book. The story is such an entertaining and thought provoking about a possible future we could possibly experience. If you like Enders Game or the Tripod series, this book is right up your alley.
