Historia
A weekly newspaper dedicated to the weird and the wonderful (but mostly the weird), The Stranger Times is the go-to publication for the unexplained and inexplicable. At least that's their pitch. The reality is rather less auspicious. Their editor is a drunken, foul-tempered and foul-mouthed husk of a man who thinks little of the publication he edits. His staff are a ragtag group of misfits. And as for the assistant editor...well, that job is a revolving door - and it has just revolved to reveal Hannah Willis, who's got problems of her own.

Hilarious...
Revisado: 11-07-21
If anyone is looking for a REALLY good read... Highly recommended book! A must read for for anyone who has ever worked in newspaper as I once did.. However, just as good for anyone who can appreciate the potential of a supernatural element to the world and a enjoys wicked sense of British humor at it's finest... The reader of the audiobook is phenomenal. Already pre-ordered the sequel...

Historia
You ask me if I can forgive myself? I can forgive myself. And so begins The Truth Is a Cave in the Black Mountains, a haunting story of family, the otherworld, and a search for hidden treasure. This audiobook is brought to vivid life by the characters and landscape of Gaiman’s award-winning story. In this volume, the talents and vision of two great creative geniuses come together in a glorious explosion of color and shadow, memory and regret, vengeance and, ultimately, love.

Short story that intrigues!
Revisado: 11-19-19
An excellent short story, fascinating lore of the Highlands & Islands. Just the right length for a short story but I found myself wanting more. Neil Gaiman reads the story to perfection.

Historia
For centuries, the vineyards at Château Renard have depended on the talent of their vine witches, whose spells help create the world-renowned wine of the Chanceaux Valley. Then the skill of divining harvests fell into ruin when sorcière Elena Boureanu was blindsided by a curse. Now, after breaking the spell that confined her to the shallows of a marshland and weakened her magic, Elena is struggling to return to her former life. And the vineyard she was destined to inherit is now in the possession of a handsome stranger.

Excellent Story & Reader
Revisado: 11-03-19
A light hearted story that once I started listening to I didn't want it to end. Looking forward to her next book! The reader does a phenomenal job of keeping the listener's interest. I deliberately rated 5 stars, however...
***Slight Spoiler Alert***
I did have an issue with the premise of who the actual "bad guy" was in the story. Implausible, but then again that's opinion. As well, it's a story about a magical world so who is to say what is or isn't plausible? So 5 stars for the 99% of the book I loved. It's a fantasy in a fantasy world, the fun of imagination allowed for altering an ending. Perhaps I am just used to my normal non-fiction, dark thrillers and crime procedurals. Guess I may need more fairy tales in my life? The Vine Witch is well worth the read - or listen. Enjoy!

Historia
Dave Robicheaux returns in another Bayou adventure, this one more gruesome and gut-wrenching than any that have come before. Hurricane Katrina has ravaged New Orleans, leaving the streets and buildings flooded and the city awash with opportunists, looters, and vicious criminals. There is no order, no law. Police are shooting randomly at innocent people, prison guards have abandoned their posts, and bodies float through the streets and hang from trees.

James Lee Burke at his finest
Revisado: 06-10-18
Absolutely loved both the paperback and the audible versions of this book. I prefer the audiobook version due to Will Patton's narration. The story is fascinating, the wording poetic, and the narration smooth as honey. Though fiction, there is an element of fact in the events surrounding Katrina. At times I felt I was there. If you want a read (or listen) that focuses on well developed characters at their best and worst this one is a must read / listen.
