During a train trip from Chicago to Texas in the late 1940s, A.W. Tozer began to write The Pursuit of God. He wrote all night, and when the train arrived at his destination, the rough draft was done. The depth of this book has made it an enduring favorite.

Historia
Did you know that many of America's Founding Fathers - who fought for liberty and justice for all - were slave owners? Through the powerful stories of five enslaved people who were "owned" by four of our greatest presidents, this book helps set the record straight about the role slavery played in the founding of America. From Billy Lee, valet to George Washington, to Alfred Jackson, faithful servant of Andrew Jackson, these dramatic narratives explore our country's great tragedy - that a nation "conceived in liberty" was also born in shackles.

Revisado: 06-02-17
It is always enlightening to get clarity on a period of time that has been so romanticized. This book highlights the forgotten slaves who existed alongside the leaders of the country that are held in holy esteem. Slaves were human too, they had real stories. They didn't ask to come to America and they made a contribution to the society. This book tells it like it is....a refreshing reality check not presented in a contentious manner.

Historia
White Americans have long been comfortable in the assumption that they are the cultural norm. Now that notion is being challenged, as white people wrestle with what it means to be part of a fast-changing, truly multicultural nation. Facing chronic economic insecurity, a popular culture that reflects the nation's diverse cultural reality, and a future in which they will no longer constitute the majority of the population, and with a black president in the White House, whites are growing anxious.

Provocative!
Revisado: 04-09-17
I loved the book. The content was provocative and relevant. The narration sounded computer like, very mechanical. I thought that this reduced the impact of the critical points in this book. This is a must read/listen if you desire to bridge the divide between the races.

Among these problem solvers were a group of exceptionally talented African American women, some of the brightest minds of their generation.

keeping it real
Revisado: 06-23-16
Any caregiver who has the opportunity to spend time with someone who has dementia will appreciate this story. My mom has dementia and this story makes me laugh and cry. This story highlights the highs and lows that the family experiences while their loved one is progressing through dementia completely oblivious to departure from reality.
It is impressive that a male has taken the time to document the journey through this tumultuous period in a loved ones life. I think the story is well done and this recording is one of a few out there that keeps the reality of being a caregiver real.

Historia
In Jesus on Trial, New York Times bestselling author David Limbaugh applies his lifetime of legal experience to a unique new undertaking: making a case for the gospels as hard evidence of the life and work of Jesus Christ. Limbaugh, a practicing attorney and former professor of law, approaches the canonical gospels with the same level of scrutiny he would apply to any legal document and asks all the necessary questions about the story of Jesus....

The content is rich and logically presented. I would expect that from a lawyer. The audio quality varies slightly. Some chapters are louder and clearer than others. I will get the kindle addition to highlight the rich content from this audio book.

Dramatic
Revisado: 04-03-16
This is a new way to appreciate the bible. If you don't appreciate just straight narration you'll find the background effects enjoyable.
The Hollywood actors provide the drama and the special effects add a little punch to the readings.
I think this version is good for listening but I can't use it for memorization.
This is very different from the Alexander Scorby reading of the KJV. I think that this will appeal to anyone who needs to hear the word presented to them with a little drama.
I can't complain just listen to the word. It's good for the soul.

We've all had experience with two dramatically different types of leaders. The first type drain intelligence, energy, and capability from the ones around them and always need to be the smartest ones in the room. These are the idea killers, the energy sappers, the diminishers of talent and commitment. On the other side of the spectrum are leaders who use their intelligence to amplify the smarts and capabilities of the people around them.

This is a great listen for anyone who is trying to understand why some organizations get the best from their employees and others just fail. The concept of multipliers and diminisher is driven home repeatedly within the context of how this concept drives employee output both practically and emotionally. The book challenges the manager to critically listen/read and grow the organization by becoming multipliers.

Revisado: 07-31-15
The reader was clear and well paced. The book is simply amazing especially the second half of the book. This is the book you want to listen to if you're interested in history and end times. This book is long enough to cover the subject but short enough to be interesting.
