Historia
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Lame

Good concept but filthy book and very poor plot. No real climax or development. Book ends very cut off. The narrator was fantastic though, so five stars there.

Horrifying butchery of Japanese words
Revisado: 03-29-25
While the world is somewhat interesting, as someone who grew up in Japan the pronunciation was so bad I couldn’t get past chapter 5. Kun after a boys name is pronounced “koon” not “Kuhn”. Chan after a girls name is always “chun”. I’m surprised they did not do their research!
I started to like the concept but the characters were so thin and the plot so slow I couldn’t keep going.

Epic Story
Revisado: 02-18-25
The best story of the year. Saints and Monsters captures not just your imagination and sense of adventure but your heart. Weaving in deep themes throughout, with characters you won’t forget, saints and monsters reminds you of what true worth is all about. The action sequences are intense and riveting, plot unexpected, and the enemies to lovers romance was very well done. I can’t wait to read more of the author’s books. The audio book narrator was also fantastic. I’ve listened to dozens of audiobooks and she captures the characters sense of emotion with greater feeling than any I’ve read yet.
