Historia
Boston, 1662. Mary Deerfield is 24 years old. Her skin is porcelain, her eyes delft blue, and in England she might have had many suitors. But here in the New World, amid this community of saints, Mary is the second wife of Thomas Deerfield, a man as cruel as he is powerful. When Thomas, prone to drunken rage, drives a three-tined fork into the back of Mary's hand, she resolves that she must divorce him to save her life.

I enjoyed this book. I'm sure it was a tough narration because of the language style.

A great sequel!
Revisado: 02-01-21
Evolution is the perfect title for this follow up. Charity evolves into an even more interesting character, we get to experience her growth and setbacks. The new character we meet, Rose, is so well written. I couldn't wait to find out more about her but didn't want anything to speed up either. Her story unfolds beautifully and tragically. The perfect balance of intrigue and character building.
Throughout this book I continuously found myself appreciating that the characters always felt true to themselves. Their decisions, their actions, all of it. That's impressive when we're dealing with harpies, evil queens, everyday humans and Rose.
I cannot wait to see what's in store for us with the third book!

Historia
By day, punk-rock runaway Charity Blake struggles through a stream of dead-end jobs and the haunting memories of her past. But at night she is the Harpy, sprouting wings with black feathers, and claws made for tearing the flesh of her prey. Having survived a lifetime of abuse and torment from a sadistic man who broke her spirit, Charity's physical manifestation of her grief and anger allows her to hunt down those like her abuser. Only this time, Charity isn't a helpless little girl praying for things to end. Now she is the monster, and hell hath no fury like a harpy scorned.

Dark, fresh and bloody.
Revisado: 02-09-20
I had no idea what to expect, but it wasn't what I received, and I'm not complaining. The main character carries around some demons, and then some. She is also witty and smart. This story deals with some really dark themes, some of them very real. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to Book 2. It was a good mix of reality, horror, and blood with the right amount of feelings.

Historia
Uncle Tom's Cabin was the best-selling novel of the 19th century and the second best-selling book of that century, following the Bible. It is credited with helping fuel the abolitionist cause in the 1850s. In 1855, three years after it was published, it was called "the most popular novel of our day." A thrilling and important piece of American literature!

wonderfully written. This will be in my rotation of re-listens. Narrator was great, but the length of the pauses between chapters is often deceiving due to its length.
