Historia
At his death in 1994, Ralph Ellison left behind roughly 2000 pages of his unfinished second novel, which he had spent nearly four decades writing. Long awaited, it was to have been the work Ellison intended to follow his masterpiece, Invisible Man. Five years later, Random House published Juneteenth, drawn from the central narrative of Ellison’s unfinished epic. Three Days Before the Shooting... gathers together in one volume, for the first time, all the parts of that planned opus, including three major sequences never before published.

Wonderful reading
Revisado: 11-15-20
Mr Hoffman wonderfully performs a challenging book. It is a complex collection of manuscripts for Ralph Ellison’s unfinished second novel. Mr Hoffman’s talent subtly differentiates the character voices and Ellison’s polyphonic vernacular, all while performing a “steady” ready, which is the only way to carry the listener through 65 hours. The beautiful “theatrical” reading that Joe Morton performs with the abridgment, “Juneteenth,” could not have worked with these raw manuscripts. As for “Three Days...,”Mr Hoffman renders both a superb performance and a Herculean feat.
