Historia
Meet Michael Blutrich, mild-mannered New York lawyer and founder of Scores, the hottest strip club in New York City history, funded by the proceeds of an insurance embezzlement scheme. All Blutrich wanted was to lay low, make the club a success, and put his criminal acts behind him. But the Mafia got involved, and soon the FBI came knocking. Scores became wildly popular, in part thanks to Blutrich's ability to successfully bend the rules of adult entertainment. Unfortunately for Blutrich, it would all soon implode.

Incredible true story
Revisado: 08-10-17
I almost never choose to listen to anything read by the author. I'm glad I made an exception for this one. Scores was better than fiction and totally engrossing from the first word to the end. It's well worth a credit.

Audible production terribl
Revisado: 02-16-17
The book and the narrator were both excellent but it was broken into seven parts. Each new part required me to quit the app and restart to play the next one. At one point, there was an entire section that repeated. I got through it and it was worth it but come on.

Historia
When Bronwen Dickey brought her new dog home, she saw no traces of the infamous viciousness in her affectionate, timid pit bull. Which made her wonder: How had the breed - beloved by Teddy Roosevelt, Helen Keller, and TV's Little Rascals - come to be known as a brutal fighter? Her search for answers takes her from 19th-century New York City dogfighting pits - the cruelty of which drew the attention of the recently formed ASPCA - to early 20th-century movie sets where pit bulls cavorted with Fatty Arbuckle and Buster Keaton.

Author's politics sometimes got in the way
Revisado: 01-28-17
This is an interesting book from which most people can learn a great deal about breed specific regulations. The author has interfaced with those from all sides of the pit bull controversy and admirably defends the dogs and their owners. Some of her snide comments about politicians unrelated to the book's purpose diminished her message though. For example, what do WMD's in Iraq possibly have to do with pit bulls? The dogs deserve better.

Historia
Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36. They were married when Clare was 23 and Henry was 31. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.

I felt like a child on a trip, "Are we there yet?"
Revisado: 01-13-15
What would have made The Time Traveler's Wife better?
Some depth to the characters. If they had a real interest in anything besides drink and sex it never came through.
What was most disappointing about Audrey Niffenegger’s story?
The waste of time to listen to it and half a credit to buy it.
What aspect of Fred Berman and Phoebe Strole ’s performance would you have changed?
Actually, their performances were the only things to recommend the book.
Any additional comments?
I do not give up on books and for some reason I toiled through this one as I have a couple of others that were equally tedious. I wish I hadn't.

Contrived and Predictable
Revisado: 04-19-13
Would you try another book from David Baldacci and/or Jonathan Marosz?
Certainly not one of the earlier ones. This one was written in 1996.
Would you ever listen to anything by David Baldacci again?
Not without checking into a lot more than I did this one. There is no one on the planet as illogical as the heroine in this book.
Would you be willing to try another one of Jonathan Marosz’s performances?
No. Every phrase starts high and winds down to blah. Few english speakers have such a pronounced sing song pattern to their reading.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Total Control?
All the ones where the seemingly super human woman made such super stupid decisions.
Any additional comments?
Don't waste your points on this one. Also, remember it is a technology-based book, written in 1996. Floppy disks were high tech.

Historia
To five-year-old Jack, Room is the entire world. It is where he was born and grew up; it's where he lives with his Ma as they learn and read and eat and sleep and play. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits. Room is home to Jack, but to Ma, it is the prison where Old Nick has held her captive for seven years. Through determination, ingenuity, and fierce motherly love, Ma has created a life for Jack. But she knows it's not enough...not for her or for him.

Fantasy
Revisado: 09-24-10
While having the narration done in a child's voice and from the 5-year-old perspective was interesting for awhile, it grew tedious after a few hours. The author is trying to help the reader see how difficult it would be to adjust to the world all at once after years of isolation but she goes too far. Makes you want to scream "enough already, get on with life." The book was interesting and it's probably worth a credit to hear how they did the narration.
