Historia
It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on. I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine. It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back.

Super cute short and sweet
Revisado: 04-06-25
I loved this short and sweet story! Just what I needed in between the super long wild fantasy romance novels I’m listening to. Bc sometimes you just need a break from all that seriousness, and this was the perfect book for that!

My name is Poppy St. James, and I am going to kill Lukas Novikov! I've just landed my dream job as the director of public relations for the NHL's newest expansion team, the Jacksonville Rays, but the team owner has only granted me a one-year contract. If I want to stay, I'll have to prove myself. Easy. Public relations is in my blood. But it turns out professional hockey players are a major handful. No one is a bigger pain in my side than party boy defenseman, Lukas Novikov.

Revisado: 03-25-25
Just finished Pucking Sweet and I’m impatiently waiting for when they release the Ever After part 3! I really hope they do! I loved this book and the whole series! I adored Poppy and her story. Personally I related to her story the most in ways you would probably never imagine, and I loved Colton and Lukas! I think they are my favorite Rays boys so far!

My name is Tess Owens, and my life is officially on fire. I never thought dancing at my best friend's wedding would be the match to light the flames. But with one lingering touch, one longing look . . . and one sneaky caterer holding a camera phone, my almost ex-husband is ready to torch my entire life. Unwilling to face the heat, I do what I do best: I run. Straight into the arms of Rachel and her team of NHL hockey players.

Loving this series
Revisado: 03-18-25
I absolutely adored this book! I think I even loved it more than Pucking Around! Don’t get me wrong, I was obsessed with Rachel and her guys, but I love Tess and Ryan so so much! This story was a bit more intense with the issues with the ex and all that, which I think make it more interesting to me. I couldn’t put it down, I HAD to find out what happened next. I also love that we got to see a good bit of Rachel and the guys, and we got a little intro into the plot of the next book, Pucking Sweet. I also loved how Ilmari, Jake, and Caleb all stuck up for Tess and protected her like their own, I am a sucker for the found family trope. Alright well I’m on to the next novella (Ever After part 2) then to Pucking Sweet!

I absolutely LOVE novellas like this where we get to see future stuff! I’m usually not too keen on series where each book focuses on a different person/couple on a group, but just out of hoping to get a little more of Rachel and her guys I’m gonna go ahead and read the next one!

My name is Rachel Price, and two months ago, I walked away from the perfect man. Sweet and funny, and so hot it should be illegal—we shared one magical night. No names. No strings. I never thought I'd see him again. I was wrong. It turns out Mr. Perfect is the playboy grinder for the Jacksonville Rays, the NHL's hottest new hockey team . . . and I'm his new physical therapist. Oh, and the jerk doesn't even recognize me!

My fav super spicy why choose romance so far!
Revisado: 03-11-25
I don’t think I’ve ever cried this hard at the end of one of the spiciest books I’ve read so far! Seriously there were lots of happy tears in the last few chapters. I mean this book was straight dirty sometimes and I loved every second. Can’t wait to read the happy ever after book and then the other books! I’ve only read a handful of why choose romances so far, but this one is definitely my fav so far! It was so sweet and fun and spicy as hell!

Historia
Laurel Brook is not sick. Sure, she just fell into a shelf of Noodle-Os at the grocery store and startled the unsuspecting patrons, but she's definitely not sick. The problem is, the hot doctor who just caught her in his arms after she lost her balance? He doesn't agree. Dr. Lachlan Cade can tell Laurel needs help, and even if it means bending the rules, he's going to give it. Laurel is just as determined never to rely on a man again, but that's a hard vow to keep.

Heartwarming romcom
Revisado: 02-24-25
I absolutely devoured this book! Devon Atwood always puts out something amazing and entertaining. This is a fun and sweet, slightly slow burn, romantic comedy, with an interesting romance between a single mom and a hot doctor.
The single mom Laurel is clumsy but does her very best to be there for her daughter and doesn’t like to take handouts. Doctor Cade seems kinda lonely and buries himself in his work, and is immediately enamored by Laurel and her daughter when they come into his ER for a head wound the child got at school. Then he stumbles across Laurel in the grocery store and sees she is extremely sick, like a horrible case of strep and can barely stand up bc her fever is so high sick. He gets her to work things out with her mother so she can take Laurel’s daughter for a few days, and talks Laurel into coming home with him so he can take care of her, bc she cannot afford insurance and doesn’t want to take on more medical bills for herself. He knows this and sees how she struggles and genuinely wants to help her, and is clearly attracted to her as well.
We get both PoVs bouncing between chapters, which I love.
The majority of the books spans about a month or two I think. They fall for each other as Cade tries to help her in any way he can, and they both have to battle with Laurel’s ex as that douchbag(who is off with his new wife who he cheated on Laurel with) and still wants to control every move Laurel makes. We get some spicy scenes about halfway through, and they are definitely worth the wait!! Think hot doctor fantasies come true!
This is the first in a series of interconnected standalone rom-coms called Love and other Jobs, and I’m pretty sure I know who the next book will be about. I hope we get at least a little glimpse at Laurel and Cade in the other books. While I know that’s how these books go, just like the Twisted Love series is, I do wish I had more of them! I loved their relationship that much!
I rarely have time for physical books these days, so I was so excited that this one finally released! I can’t wait for the others to come out on audiobook, so I’ll probably have to just read the actual books, but I’ll decide to the audiobooks either way once they come out. And it’s a great way to get you interested in the series by listening to this one first! I enjoyed this book sooo much and it made me feel so cozy and giddy!
If you haven’t yet, I would definitely check out her other books! I believe the first in her fantasy series is also out on audiobook now! So check that one out if you prefer a fantasy romance!

Historia
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

Sooo good!
Revisado: 11-23-24
I was waiting for this to come out on audiobook and so glad it’s finally here!! This book was absolutely amazing. Perfect balance between adventure and romance and fantasy. If you need to scratch that itch from your Acotar or blood and ash hangover, then this is the book!!! It does end on a cliffhanger, but it’s not too bad, though I am so sad I have to wait probably another year for the next one. But it will be worth the wait! Callie Hart did such a fantastic job on her first fantasy romance! I believe before this she only wrote modern romance? I just know that this was her first fantasy. The spice was spicy and so hot! It was a slow burn, but man was it worth it when we got there. If you’re hesitant, I say go for it! The voices are great too! The guy voice is the same guy who narrates for Rhy in the dramatized version of Acotar, so it was a little hard to not imagine Rhys, but I got over it after a while. And I loved the female voice as well! They guy speaks every time it’s his lines, so it’s never that junk where the female is trying to do a male voice (I hate that, if you have a male already working in the book, just have him say his lines!). Okay sorry this review is so long! This has landed a place in my top 10 fav fantasy novels!!

So glad I read this series!
Revisado: 10-11-24
This is the 4th and last book in the Twisted series. I am so sad that it’s all over! But so so glad I finally dove into these amazing books. I’m normally a fantasy romance girl, but these books were a great reprieve between the crazy adventures I usually read. These are so cozy and sweet and spicy 🌶️! For me I would say it’s a 3/5 🌶️ on the spicy scale. To explain the levels of spice to me- 5🌶️ is like the most kinky deprived stuff out there. 4 is smut in almost every other chapter with some dark elements shown or talked about. 3 is great plot with some amazing build up and usually about 4-6 really good spicy scenes, maybe a little more. 2 is one or two scenes with lots of implied/closed door. And 1🌶️ means it’s a super slow burn and we get a little bit of smut towards the end. Keep in mind that this is MY scale, everyone’s is different!
Any way, I loved this entire series. They can each be read as a standalone, it will not confuse you as each book explains everything pretty well, but not too much, so that if you have read them in order it will not being annoying. But I recommend reading them in order to get the full effect! They go in order of a timeline, and each book focuses on one woman from a 4 woman friend group, and their budding relationship with a man. Each has its own tropes, and the stories are absolutely amazingly written. I could not stop listening. I listened to this entire series in about 10 days.
For this last book, the last single woman from the friend group finally gets her love story! She begins a fake relationship with a rich bad boy, who is friends with one of her friend’s husband, that’s how they kinda met. Stella is a social media influencer and very popular. Christian is a dark brooding CEO of a security and tech company and is really into Stella. She needs a fake boyfriend to get more followers online so that she can open more doors in her career. So yeah it’s the fake dating trope, and forced proximity. Also, I love how the end of this book ties all of the 4 books together and gives us a little happy ending snippet of them all together. I loved that part so much I almost cried! I think there are bonus chapters, so I’ll be going to google those now.
If you are on the fence about these and like these kinds of books, I say go for it asap! I will probably come back and read these when I need to feel cozy and warm between the dark romance books, they are like hallmark movies but spicy, they make you feel so good and happy!

Revisado: 10-02-24
This was a sort of mystery romance with a good bit of spice and some twists and turns! I don’t normally read regular modern romances like this. But I have been getting into dark romance lately, and decided to listen to this one to take the edge off between books in the Lords series, (whew!🥵 if you know you know) this book had a good few plot twists that actually surprised me! Story kept me interested, along with some really great spicy scenes! I love how it flows into the next book (each one is about a different couple, but in the same girl friend group). And with that ending I can’t wait to dive into the next story now! I enjoyed the voice actors for this one bc I have heard them both in other books already. But the girl I remember took some getting used to the first time I heard her in another book. Her voice grows on you! And don’t forget you can speed up or slow down the reading speed! For this one I sped it up a little bit and found the perfect rhythm for their voices. Any way, if you’re on the fence, I say go for it! It kept me wanting more and needing to know what happens next!

Glad I finally listened to this one!
Revisado: 08-25-24
Look, this book is not for everyone. It has trigger warnings for a reason, the word TABOO is used for a reason, to warn the reader. So you know what you’re getting into. People either love or hate this book with a passion. Again, it’s not for everyone! That’s okay, you don’t have to read it. So I wish people would stop getting mad. No one forced you to read/listen to it. Grow up and learn to pay attention to descriptions and reviews and trigger warnings. Honestly, if you are easily offended then you shouldn’t be reading any of Penelope Douglas’s books any way. Seriously. I LOVED THIS BOOK. So much personal growth and learning to understand that others have demons too and we all struggle, and we all have to figure out our own way through. Yeah some moments may be awkward, but some were super hot and breathtaking as well. Regardless of the taboo parts, I love the ending, and wish they would add the bonus chapters into the audiobook as well. Those bonus chapters seriously add so much more to the happy endings!! Any way, so if you do listen to this. Google the bonus chapters when you are done. The two I know about take place before the epilogue chapter in here. So if you want, go read those and then read the epilogue. I wish I did! So yeah. Again, it’s TABOO and definitely rated S for SUPER SPICY! It’s a beautiful story though. Douglas is an amazing writer. And you gotta love a stand alone book with a heart warming ending.
Also, I only did 4 stars for performance bc I just didn’t like the female voice. Her voice was flat, it didn’t have much emotion at all, which kinda messed with the story at some points. But I guess you get used to the voices after a while. Other than that, I loved the male voices!
