I very much enjoyed the first in the series, but this story is full of orientalist stereotypes which just aren't acceptable in this day and age. The author needs to go and have a good read about orientalism and how damaging it can be. I may try the rest, but if they continue to be written in this manner, will abandon ship.

The story and characters have a lot of potential but (a) the voice actor is not good enough and (b) female characters are badly written.
You can tell when the VO artist is at the end of a line, rather than the end of a sentence. He barely modulates his tone, it’s too monotonous.
Female characters- oh lord I could be here all day. Dreadful. Oh? Tee hee? You big bwave man!

Performance is fine, no problems there. The story was, to be honest, a bit forgettable. I liked the two main characters, just felt they needed something meatier to get into. Fine for a long boring journey where you don’t want anything too distracting.

Not bad, but one aspect really sucks

I love a good fish out of water book, and in many respects this series fits the bill. I loved the skills development introduced to the people and how it changed their lives. It was a tad smug nerd however.
The biggest failing for the series is your sex scenes. They are so terribley written that I dreaded the times these scenes were about to happen. Olan, none of your sex scenes have foreplay. None! You have no idea or do not care about the mechanics of arousal in women’s bodies. Just appallingly bad, in a series that was otherwise a good story. Learn how to describe sex and I may read future series from you, but for now, I just couldn’t.
