A Gripping Tale

I have never read this type of book before, but I decided to take leap and try it. Cassandra Clare creates an entire new world where Shadowhunters and Underworlders live. She is able to describe the setting vividly while keeping a breathless pace in the storyline. Other than the setting, the story is really about relationships: loyalty, love, and betrayal. What makes this a great book is the combination of suspense, supernatural, and a hint of romance. The three are woven together beautifully so that it never feels forced or an afterthought. The narration is also done well and is enjoyable. Overall, it is definitely worth a credit.

Touching story about courage and love

Maya Banks hits another home run with Highlander Most Wanted, the sequel to Never Seduce a Scot. This story picks up seamlessly from book 1 when Bowen Montgomery and others come to the McHugh keep. The interaction between the characters is deep, giving you the feeling that you know these people. The story is about overcoming obstacles, the will to survive and love. I am surprised at how quickly I can get lost in these books and am dying of anticipation for book three.

Kirsten Potter gives an emotional performance adding another dimension to the story. She does excellent with men and women's voices alike. She speeds up narration during the intense moments increasing the feeling of urgency. There is a great amount of feeling in her voice throughout the entire performance. The book is great on its own, but it becomes exceptional with Kirsten's narration.

Slow story with terrible narration

What did you like best about The Next Always? What did you like least?

I liked elements of the storyline. It was a sweet love story. Parts of the book felt way too slow. I almost gave up on the book several times.

How could the performance have been better?

Someone else performing it. The narrator has terrible women and children's voices. The men are also difficult to distinguish between. The children were the worst and felt like fingernails on a chalkboard.

Definitely Hot, But...

Delicious is another great book by Shayla Black. It is well written and very steamy, but I was beginning to tire of the guy and girl who love each other but won't admit it until there is mortal danger storyline. However, that being said, I did have a difficult time putting it down and allowing myself to sleep when appropriate. Also, I will still be continuing in the series. So, it is a conflicted feeling I review with. I still can not say enough good things about Lexi Maynard's narration of these stories. It is easy to keep track of who is talking and the voices are enjoyable. The book, although somewhat predictable was still very enjoyable and ultimately worth the credit.

Pleasantly Surprised

I didn't really care for the first Maya Banks book I read, "Be With Me" (erotica), but I decided to take a risk after reading the reviews. I am so glad I did. This was a great love story and very touching. Eveline is an incredible woman with an incredible story. Graeme is an honorable man. The characters and story is well developed - it is easy to feel like you know all of the family members and can picture the countryside. Kirsten Potter adds another level to the story. She is a fantastic narrator. She does excellent with male voices and increases the speed of the story as the action increases. It makes you feel immersed in the story. Overall, an excellent book - well worth the credit.

Another Great Shayla Black book

The narrating is great. I really enjoyed the story. I liked Wicked Ties a little bit better, but this was still a hot story with great characters.

The reviews have already said it all. An incredible book with deep characters and fantastic narration. Make sure you are in the mood to listen to a sad story - as someone else mentioned, you will cry.

Couldn't listen fast enough

Wicked Ties was a great story that kept me involved in the characters. The writing is SO hot! I have read a few other books in this category, but this one was the hottest. Although I did enjoy the story and didn't find it too cheesy, there were a couple things that I found annoying, which is why the story only received 4 stars instead of 5. But, they were minor in the whole realm of things. If you want a steamy book that you can get lost in, you will not be disappointed.

Sweet & Sexy

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The storyline starts to feel a little cliché. The interesting characters draws you in, though, and has you rooting for them in spite of the cliché present.

Was Damaged worth the listening time?

Yes. I found myself wanting to find out what happened next to see how the problem would be resolved. It kept my interest and I really enjoyed the romance.
