Definitely my favorite of this authors. The narrator is also among the best bringing it further to life. I am always one that loves stories that include animals. Includes a bit of everything.

Historia
Angus and Hugh MacNaughton are brothers. They dislike each other...a lot. They have loathed each other since Hugh bit Angus at a family picnic many years ago. In a last-ditch attempt to forge a brotherly bond between the two, Mr. and Mrs. MacNaughton secure them jobs at an exclusive five-star game lodge. They manage to convince (bribe in the case of Angus) the siblings to work at Sasekile Private Game Lodge for a year.

Perfect humor when you need something light and fun.
Wasn’t sure I’d like the format being told through emails but it works. Narrator is great too.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

A different yet familiar story reworked-I think that is the point
Revisado: 10-17-23
Amazing narrator!!
I don’t care that elements of the story seem like familiar storylines part of that was the whole point.
It was different than what I expected.
It enjoyed listening to a book that is quite different from anything I’ve heard awhile. Some people really rip into this book. I could see their points but whether you love or hate this book depends on your reason for wanting to read/listen. I am not expecting this to be kings best ever masterpiece. I know the love of an animal companion is any many books and is redone here; who cares?! I like books that include this in the storyline and that is part of the reason I purchased it in the first place.
A perspective I could never see for the other reviews is any criticism of the narrator. You have nearly 25 hours to get used to the style; he builds into the characters. He is fantastic! This would be a challenging book to narrate and he exceeded reasonable expectations.

Historia
>When South African conservationist Lawrence Anthony was asked to accept a herd of "rogue" wild elephants on his Thula Thula game reserve in Zululand, his common sense told him to refuse. But he was the herd's last chance of survival: they would be killed if he wouldn't take them. In order to save their lives, Anthony took them in. In the years that followed he became a part of their family. And as he battled to create a bond with the elephants, he came to realize that they had a great deal to teach him about life, loyalty, and freedom.

This biography is amazing. What she went through can you hope through challenges and reminds me of my faith as well.
The cat is incredible. I wish I knew what the cat looked like! The narrator who read this was perfect. I will look for other books she narrated. Really gave life to the people in the story and made you feel there. Now one of my favorites.

Historia
Half-Korean, half-Japanese, Masaji Ishikawa has spent his whole life feeling like a man without a country. This feeling only deepened when his family moved from Japan to North Korea when Ishikawa was just thirteen years old, and unwittingly became members of the lowest social caste. His father, himself a Korean national, was lured to the new Communist country by promises of abundant work, education for his children, and a higher station in society. But the reality of their new life was far from utopian.

Historia
Many people think wild tigers are on the road to recovery, but they are in greater danger than ever - from a menace few experts saw coming. There may be only three thousand wild tigers left in the entire world. More shocking is the fact that twice that many - some six thousand - have been bred on farms, not for traditional medicine but to supply a luxury-goods industry that secretly sells tiger-bone wine, tiger-skin decor, and exotic cuisine enjoyed by China's elite.

Scary
Revisado: 05-02-18
It is so sad the state of tigers. I knew it was bad but it is even worse than I thought. I hope I don’t see tiger extinction during my life time. If the only ones alive are on tiger farms what a sadder world it will be. The few Chinese people advocating for tiger farms (planning on extinction and banking on it) is not the opinion of most of the people of China. These wealthy business men are not listening and do not care. What would China be without their tigers? What would the world be?

Awesome. Am a doctor and was not taught any of this-99% of it anyway. I hope they make a part 2!! It made me appreciate the dedication of those before us and the progress that has been made. I had no idea how Hopkins came about or history of pediatric heart surgery. Well done.

First audible book
Revisado: 11-05-16
Ok can't rightly compare to others....but read the first books in the series thx to the video game. I work shift work and insomnia is a real problem, thus tried audible books so I'd not read on bright screen. It has helped! However, took half the book for me to get used to it....now I find myself listening at other times too. I wish I had digital too but am starting to like listening better!! At first I didn't like, was going to cancel my audible subscription but now I going to get next book so I can listen on plane.
