Christians know what Jesus Christ has done — but who is he? What is his deepest heart for his people, weary and faltering on their journey toward heaven? Jesus said he is "gentle and lowly in heart." This audiobook reflects on these words, opening up a neglected yet central truth about who he is for sinners and sufferers today.

Encouraging. Inspiring. Humbling.
Revisado: 04-28-23
This book was a great listen. If you want to know what the Bible teaches about God’s heart, I heartily recommend it.
How do we reconcile the “angry God” judging sinners with the Jesus who says, “let the children come to me” and died on the cross so that sinners might be saved?
“Even while we were still sinners, he loved us.”
Read on.
If you think you know all of this already, I am sure you don’t know it quite as well as Dane Ortlund has put together in this book. You may be surprised at the refreshing truths he so well communicates.

Historia
Renowned poet and critic Clive James presents the crowning achievement of his career: a monumental translation into English verse of Dante’s The Divine Comedy. The Divine Comedy is the precursor of modern literature, and this translation - decades in the making - gives us the entire epic as a single, coherent and compulsively listenable lyric poem. Written in the early 14th century and completed in 1321, the year of Dante’s death, The Divine Comedy is perhaps the greatest work of epic poetry ever composed.

Unintelligible
Revisado: 08-29-22
Without a thorough background in ancient history this is impossible to comprehend. The author constantly makes references to events and people who you likely have never heard of—in which case, his analogies are meaningless.
The narrator does a very good job with the cadence of the poem (especially for being a translated poem) and has a pleasant voice to listen to.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Thrilling, Suspenseful, not like the movies
Revisado: 11-11-18
I have never been a big Dracula fan or vampire fan in general, still not. I, like most people, know that Dracula is a vampire and know most of the common vampire-lore. Yet, I did not realize that much of what we associate with vampire-lore, today did not come from this text, but was added superstition over time.
Thus, if you think you know everything about vampires, think again and dig into the root of it all to see how it all came to be.
Besides this, there is very good reason to read this book. It is a thrilling and suspenseful novel that will have you thirsting for more until you finally turn the last page. It is written as a compilation of letters and diary entries from various characters. In this narration, each character is read by a different narrator; it is amazing! They did a truly awesome job.

Historia
A lifelong pursuit of knowing God should embody the Christian's existence. According to eminent theologian J.I. Packer, however, Christians have become enchanted by modern skepticism and have joined the "gigantic conspiracy of misdirection" by failing to put first things first. Knowing God aims to redirect our attention to the simple, deep truth that to know God is to love His Word.

Modern Christian Classic
Revisado: 11-11-18
This book is a modern christian classic and has become a household text among christian families. It is with good reason too, as J.I. Packer is able to approach God in a way that is easy for every reader to sympathize. Each chapter not only gives you knowledge "about" God but also helps you to understand why that is important now and to apply it to your present life.
Simon Vance did an outstanding job narrating this work, no complaints there.

Unbelievable Testimony
Revisado: 08-15-18
Nabeel’s writing style and audio recording are tremendous. The way he retells his story makes you feel like you’re sitting on a couch with a close friend in conversation.
I learnt much about Muslim/Islamic faith through his testimony and have a much greater empathy and compassion for them because of it. I believe all who listen will feel the same way.

Historia
Written by John Owen, one of the best known of the Puritans. In The Mortification of Sin, John Owen insisted on the importance of the Christian dealing effectively with their sinful tendencies and attitudes. He believed that God, through his Word and Spirit, had provided the guidelines and the power for this to be achieved. Owen effectively dismisses various excuses for not engaging in self scrutiny and yet avoids the current trend of self absorption.

How to think of Sin
Revisado: 08-06-18
This book helps to untangle the tension between sin and forgiveness of sin; how to be free of guilt and what source to rely on in living a holy life. No man is righteous, no not one. But by the power of the Holy Spirit, by grace through faith, our sin can be mortified so that we indeed can live a more righteous and holy life.

Historia
For 300 years, The Pilgrim's Progress has remained perhaps the best-loved and most read of devotional fictions. In plain yet powerful and moving language, Bunyan tells the story of Christian's struggle to attain salvation and the Gates of Heaven. He must pass through the Slough of Despond, ward off the temptations of Vanity Fair, and fight the monstrous Apollyon. In Part II, his wife and children follow the same path, helped and protected by Great-heart, until for them, too, "the trumpets sound on the other side."

Narrator Makes the Story
Revisado: 03-15-18
Patrick Tull does a fantastic job capturing the unique personalities of each character. In addition, he helps you to feel like you are truly in the time period in which the story takes place.
The story itself is one of imagination, love interests, and action. Quite skillfully written, you will be able to sympathize with each of the characters.
