humour
Revisado: 05-25-24
A light read, fairly well written and pleasantly humorous.
The narrator didn't differentiate the voices as well as most performers. Also the story lacked authenticity for the time period; there were a lot of errors around the roles of women, the law, and the police, among other things. But it was still a nice diversion.

I wait every day to hear this podcast. Excellent coverage and it's nice to hear my country mentioned.
Dom, I think the Ambassador is wearing the Shaw tartan which I believe is under the Campbells. this is from a vague memory I have from my wedding to my Scottish husband. That tartan was the only one of its kind at the reception...I could be wrong. unfortunately the only person who knows is now dead. Anyway that's my guess.

Has no one heard of confidetiality?
Revisado: 02-14-23
Has no one heard of medical confidentiality?!
I know Britain, America, and Canada have both laws and ethical standards regarding one's health information and the requirement that health care workers follow strictly.
One would not believe it in these stories as they have EVERYONE from medical staff, the police and even to lawyers telling their clients' personal information to anyone.
I found this so annoying it spoiled the story.

Historia
May 1816: Jane Austen is feeling unwell, with an uneasy stomach, constant fatigue, rashes, fevers, and aches. She attributes her poor condition to the stress of family burdens, which even the drafting of her latest manuscript - about a baronet’s daughter nursing a broken heart for a daring naval captain - cannot alleviate. Her apothecary recommends a trial of the curative waters at Cheltenham Spa, in Gloucestershire. Jane decides to use some of the profits earned from her last novel, Emma, and treat herself to a period of rest and reflection at the spa.

Not a fairy tale. If you're looking for a "soft story", this is not it. It is a book of the reality of our world. A warning to those who see the world in black and white that there are many shades of grey.

Unfortunate beginning that left me unimpressed.
Revisado: 08-07-22
I was surprised that the authors, who usually produce a tightly written mystery story, began this story with the police allowing the two obvious suspects to drive off together after they agree to meet at the nearby village. Very unlikely, so much so that it spoiled the book for me; starting off in such a silly way.

Not up to the first two in series. Disappointing.
Revisado: 08-06-22
The first two in the series are a nice change from what i usual read. This third novel is a big disappointment. The story is drawn out, and yet still seems rushed. The pacing ïs erratic and the story łoses its way.
There isn't a consistent plot. The author meanders all over without latching onto any story łine.
