Historia
I wanted to lose myself in the small town of Pelion, Maine. To forget everything I had left behind. The sound of rain. The blood. The coldness of a gun against my skin. For six months, each breath has been a reminder that I survived—and my dad didn't. I'm almost safe again. But the moment I meet Archer Hale, my entire world tilts on its axis . . . and never rights itself again. Until I trespass into his strange, silent, and isolated world, Archer communicates with no one. Yet in his whiskey-colored eyes, something intangible happens between us.

"Teach me what you like"
"I only want you, Bree."
"This is the part where you cuddle me"
"You're my dream too, just as you are."
"I knew I loved her. FIERCLY and with every part of my heart. Even the broken parts and even the broken parts that felt unworthy."
"I'm yours. I'm already yours."
"I want to be able to love you more than I fear losing you..and I don't know how. Teach me, Bree."
"My word for love is Bree"
"I'm going to stop talking now & use my hands for other things now, okay?"
🌸 My Thoughts & Review 🌸
Archer & Bree's relationship was so beautiful, I liked how they met and the beginning of their relationship. I adored how open Bree was to loving Archer, it felt natural and like wonderful tension was truly earned. I imagined Archer as Logan Lerman & Madelyn Cline as Bree. Travis to me was Liam Hemsworth in my mind.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 Stars
I kept seeing this book all over bookstagram, even though I tend to choose books based off my feelings at the time... I really needed a romance that would make me happy, but had depth. I didn't read the description for this book before, I reccomend approaching it this way! 🥰 I fell in love with Archer & Bree! Archer was compassionate, funny, and honest. Bree was resilient, genuine, and honestly I really liked how clear her communication always was. As we learned about Archer's family from the surrounding community as well as from Archer himself really helped bring the small town vibes to life. Tragedy, love, and understanding mix into this novel like a unique potion, ⚡️⛈️ I loved how in chapter 22 Bree reclaimed thunder storms. There are so many moments in this novel that remimded me of the beauty in communication & compassion in relationships.

🗡 Body horror
🚨 Trigger Warnings: Discussion of childhood abuse, death of an animal, discussion of sexual assault
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 Stars
My Review: The first few chapters were abit slow, but I stayed for the characters. I cared about how Brittney and Daisy were connected. I felt like I was following Brittney as she recorded for her show, which mirrored Buzzfeed but in a spooky way. Daisy felt difficult to care for at first, you get snippets of her past but she felt hazy and distant like a memory. The body horror was horrifying as I have rocked natural hair for years and the thought of finding a worm in my hair is terrifying.
👑 On the brightside, I loved the character King. I imagined him as a young Michael B. Jordan. I just wanted to hug him and protect him, his power was incredibly interesting and sad at the same time. When two characters meet from separate timelines you will feel scared, sad, and deeply uncomfortable. The Ghosts in this book are just as complex as the living. This has a beautiful bittersweet ending.
The generational trauma was deeply dark, painful, and in some ways more scary than the monsters in the book. Ivy's story was one of the most interesting to me. Ivy's character reminded me of all the things I loved about complex black female characters who weren't all good or all bad. Ivy felt like a lost ghost story, she was a fighter. Ivy's story broke my heart🥺 This character felt like a collage of sad stories 🌳 Generations of abuse lived in this house. Its really difficult to listen to or read.
🚨 Trigger warning for discussion and descriptions Chapter 38 discusses sexual assault of a child. Also trigger warning for suicidal events. It's really difficult to listen to or read. Chapter 49 also has abuse, discussion of isolation and childhood abuse. 🚨 Please Google Trigger warnings prior to reading. 🚨

"How would you do it?"

●Lesbian/Queer/Pan Representation
●Neurodivergent Representation
●Romance between 2 women
●Black leads
●Fake marriage
●Dual POV
● One bed trope
Go into this story blind. I found myself falling in love with the secret princess & bodyguard. The lore of the seaside fictional country the leads are traveling to, this story will be loved by anyone who's seen "The Princess Diaries," and "Anastasia," but black and gay. There's a voyage & so much wonderful romantic tension!
"Boundaries are not to keep people out, but to keep you safe. Giving doesnt always mean being taken advantage of" ~ Chapter 14 ☮️
The romantic vibes are toaty warm, but not smutty in nature. I'd give this book 🌶🌶🌶 3/5
Spicy scene ~
Chapter 15
Chapter 16
💘 This is a cute romance
The audiobook made the dual POV feel like a mini movie in my mind; which was refreshing.

Historia
Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

This book has many characters, but once you realize key elements of each the story becomes a movie in your mind.
I imagined Olivia as Lucy Liu. Anyway, the twist in this book left me in awe and trying to track back small points that led to the big bang! Argh I hated the character who is the reason this book is a psychological thriller and murder mystery. The author truly built up this story so you hated multiple characters all at once.
This books feels like "Big Little Lies," had a baby with Despretate House Wives if it was set in the south. Plus I love the queer representation! 🌈
If you liked "The Guest List," by Lucy Foley you'll love this.
My only reason for making this 4 stars is due to the repeative feeling in the last 2 chapters. Will definitely be reading another one of Jeneva Rose's books! 📚

Haunting, Tragic, and Complex
Revisado: 10-24-22
Memories are tricky. When you're scared it feels like everything is sped up or slowed down, this book felt like looking back into memories you put away as a child but now as an adult haunt you. I felt there were elements near the end of the story that felt rushed and could have been expanded upon. But I really liked the dual timeliness.

I interview my neighbors in our shockingly haunted town Wellesley, Massachusetts and I transcribe their tales for my blog Ghosts in the Burbs. Three women told me a horrific tale from their past and in doing so involved me in their horror. You may have heard part of this story before but I didn't tell you everything.... This is the complete story of Claire.

Whenever I listen to Ghost In The Burbs, I'm transported to Boston stepping on damp orange leaves and following Liz through this complex, scary, and very realistic stories. I was always more curious about Claire's story, it lingered like smoke in the air or spilled wine on a white top.
This story was a wild ride & I highly reccomend it

I loved this story, I wish there was one more chapter to explain what happened to what seems like the only 2 kind & sweet characters in the book. But the darkness in this story lingers like smoke in the air... wow.
