Great book with valuable knowledge
Revisado: 06-18-21
Really enjoyed listening to this book about Boston beer company. Loved the spirit and endless hunger Jim showed to create one of America's most loved beer companies. I had to grab a pack midway through to get a better understanding of what he created and it was enjoyable. Definitely recommend reading it and will probably reread later this year.

Possibly the single best book I've ever read
Revisado: 04-24-21
Never have I read a book so capable of drawing me into a story than shoe dog did. I laughed, cried, felt sympathy, and anger. You feel bonded to these real life characters as they go through time together facing issue after issue. I loved everything about this book and the voice actor was tremendous. So appreciative this book was recommended to me.

Bill Bryson has been an enormously popular author both for his travel books and for his books on the English language. Now, this beloved comic genius turns his attention to science. Although he doesn't know anything about the subject (at first), he is eager to learn, and takes information that he gets from the world's leading experts and explains it to us in a way that makes it exciting and relevant.

My new favorite book of all time
Revisado: 04-08-21
I love audio books and books in general, but never have I been so blown away at the sheer information, detailed accounts, historical character insights, and just overall depth of, well everything, this book covered.
I was fascinated from the first page and in awe until the last. Even while it's one of the longest books I've ever listened to (possibly the longest) I'm already looking forward to reading it again. I can't believe I only just found out about it.
The voice-over was soothing and did an excellent job introducing emotions and explaining everything very clearly and at a great pace.
At times you'll get lost in the random names and facts thrown in there on the way to a big reveal, but I actually enjoyed it. Highly recommended! Definitely one for the actual book shelf.

Historia
Continuing where Thus Spoke Zarathustra left off, Nietzsche's controversial work Beyond Good and Evil is one of the most influential philosophical texts of the 19th century and one of the most controversial works of ideology ever written. Attacking the notion of morality as nothing more than institutionalised weakness, Nietzsche criticises past philosophers for their unquestioning acceptance of moral precepts. Nietzsche tried to formulate what he called "the philosophy of the future".

Really enjoyed listening to Nietzsche's thoughts and philosophies. At times he takes you into deep thought provoking tunnels followed by strange almost incoherent ramblings. Overall very interesting.

Historia
Man’s Search for Meaning is the chilling yet inspirational story of Viktor Frankl’s struggle to hold on to hope during the unspeakable horrors of his years as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. Between 1942 and 1945 Frankl labored in four different camps, including Auschwitz, while his parents, brother, and pregnant wife perished. Based on his own experience and the experiences of those he treated in his practice, Frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering, but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose.

Amazing read that I wasn't prepared for
Revisado: 02-09-21
I've never read a book that forcefully pulled as many tears from my eyes as this one did. I knew of Frankls background somewhat and expected some references to his time in the concentration camps while discussing logotherapy, but was not expecting such detailed accounts of his experiences there.
The first 3.5+ hrs of the book detail his experiences from the camps with the final 1.5 hrs discussing logotherapy. It almost could be 2 separate books, but once you read the grueling details of what he went through you're far more open to listen and accept his perspective, and likewise the foundation of logotherapy, in full.
Great book, excellent voice over, and highly recommended.

Historia
Most startups don't fail because they can't build a product. Most startups fail because they can't get traction. Startup advice tends to be a lot of platitudes repackaged with new buzzwords, but Traction is something else entirely. As Gabriel Weinberg and Justin Mares learned from their own experiences, building a successful company is hard. For every startup that grows to the point where it can go public or be profitably acquired, hundreds of others sputter and die.

Not quite what I expected but had some benefits
Revisado: 03-07-18
I had high expectations for this book and the overall summary of it is gold. Really valuable information. The thing is the book's content was spread across the entire life cycle of a business. The first part, which most readers are probably focused on, is bringing your business to $1 million in revenue. I thought the book should've been 70% about getting to $1 million and 30% getting it to $10 million. A lot of the book was covering $25-100+ million where I'm sure there already exist much more comprehensive books on that business stage than this.
All in all, it was a decent book with some valuable points, but was a little thin for this with businesses under $1 million in revenue.

Why do some products get more word of mouth than others? Why does some online content go viral? Word of mouth makes products, ideas, and behaviors catch on. It's more influential than advertising and far more effective. Can you create word of mouth for your product or idea? According to Berger, you can. Whether you operate a neighborhood restaurant, a corporation with hundreds of employees, or are running for a local office for the first time, the steps that can help your product or idea become viral are the same.

Simply put: The BEST book there is on advertising
Revisado: 12-20-17
Simply the best book there is on advertising, copy, and marketing psychology explained in a simple, easy to understand, easy to implement manner. The only book I've purchased both on audible and paper back because it is really that good. You need to have this book as a reference when trying to sell anything. It definitely is worth more than the cash paid for it.
