Historia
In 1929 Stalin launched his policy of agricultural collectivization - in effect a second Russian Revolution - which forced millions of peasants off their land and onto collective farms. The result was a catastrophic famine, the most lethal in European history. At least five million people died between 1931 and 1933 in the USSR. But instead of sending relief, the Soviet state made use of the catastrophe to rid itself of a political problem.

The USSR or Russia, it means the same thing: Evil
Revisado: 12-25-18
Whether you call it the USSR or Russia, it means the same thing: Evil. General Patton was correct. We should have armed the German military and turned on the USSR. With our 4 engine long range bombers we could have taken Moscow and destroyed the communists once and for all. If you read this book you'll know why I feel that way. Excellent book.

In Three Days in Moscow, Baier explores the dramatic endgame of America’s long struggle with the Soviet Union and President Ronald Reagan’s central role in shaping the world we live in today. On May 31, 1988, Reagan stood on Russian soil and addressed a packed audience at Moscow State University, delivering a remarkable - yet now largely forgotten - speech that capped his first visit to the Soviet capital.

Bringing Down Communism
Revisado: 06-25-18
Another good look at how President Ronald Reagan brought communism to it's knees. A very interesting insight into how the president's speeches were prepared and how much time he spent battling his own staff.

God and Ronald Reagan made presidential historian Paul Kengor's name as one of the premier chroniclers of the life and career of the 40th president. With The Crusader, Kengor returns with the one book about Reagan that has not been written: the story of his lifelong crusade against communism and of his dogged and ultimately triumphant effort to overthrow the Soviet Union.

Fascinating story. I'm glad the truth about Jesse Jackson is in print. That man is very difficult to stomach. It's still fascinates me that the Democratic Party worked so damn hard to keep the minorites "down". I don't understand how they keep supporting Democrats after the likes of LBJ, George Wallace, John McClellan, Orville Faubus (Bill Clinton's mentor), etc. etc. etc.

Historia
Is the world really falling apart? Is the ideal of progress obsolete? In this elegant assessment of the human condition in the third millennium, cognitive scientist and public intellectual Steven Pinker urges us to step back from the gory headlines and prophecies of doom, which play to our psychological biases. Instead, follow the data: Pinker shows that life, health, prosperity, safety, peace, knowledge, and happiness are on the rise, not just in the West but worldwide.

Great Information, Poor Conclusions
Revisado: 04-14-18
The first half of this book is chock full of great Information and shows "we have come a long way" and progressed forward not backward. The proof is in the numbers and Mr. Pinker gives you those numbers. Religion and your Faith will be attacked, but after listening to his presentation it's understandable why the author does it. He believes that the more social welfare and government spending undertaken, the better off society will become. Unfortunately Mr. Pinker never comes close to explaining how all his wishful spending would be paid for. I'm sure he doesn't spend his personal income in the way he expects government to spend "our" wealth and if he does, I clearly want to move in with his family. It is very apparent he has absolutely no "love" for President Trump, though the recent revelations regarding the Trump "Dossier", invalidates much of his discussion. Knowing what we know now, that portion of this book should have been eliminated, but I'm guessing it was included because of wishful thinking. Mr. Pinker, as I interpreted it, attempts to tie Trump to Nietzsche using Steve Bannon as the link. Unfortunately, I believe his argument went up in smoke when Mr. Bannon was fired. Mr. Pinker discusses Tribalism, unfortunately for him the second half of this book shows he is strongly anchored to the anti-Trump "tribe" while at the same time trying to make the point we should refrain from membership in a "tribe". It's my belief this presentation would have been far superior if the author kept politics out of it. To be fair, he does "attack" liberals/progressives in addition to the "right wing Republicans" but you always know where he anchors his heart. He discusses how science & reason must be used more than it is used today, but at the same time I get the impression he believes "Climate Change" is settled science. I have difficulty with that because "science" is never settled simply because it's science. Lastly, Mr. Morey does a superb job with the presentation. Mr. Morey's presentations will never be a reason a book "fails", in fact I believe Mr. Morey, by his reading, can make a bad story a masterpiece. Thank you Mr. Morey.

When our founding fathers secured the Constitutional “right of the people to keep and bear arms”, they also added the admonition that this right shall not be infringed. It is the only time this phrase appears in the Bill of Rights. So why aren’t more people listening? History has proven that guns are essential to self-defense and liberty - but tragedy is a powerful force and has led many to believe that guns are the enemy, that the Second Amendment is outdated, and that more restrictions or outright bans on firearms will somehow solve everything. They are wrong.

Very Good Fact-Filled Book
Revisado: 03-10-18
A must have book for your 2nd Amendment toolbox. I've always believed that the best way to refute incorrect information is with facts. This book contains those facts. As time goes on I am beginning to believe that the anti-second crowd just doesn't care about the facts, but it's still a good idea to have them in your pocket.

When it comes to the gun control debate, there are two kinds of data: data that's accurate and data that left-wing billionaires, politicians, and media want you to believe is accurate. In The War on Guns, economist and gun rights advocate John Lott turns a skeptical eye to well-funded antigun studies and stories that perpetuate false statistics to frighten Americans into giving up their guns.

A Good Story, A Failed Attempt To Rebuild An Image
Revisado: 02-24-18
This is a very good story and very well worth the listen. If this was an attempt by the author to rebuild the image of Chamberlain, I believe he failed. I agree the actions of Chamberlain bought some time to rebuild militarily, but the overall appeasement policy allowed Hitler to get the initial upper hand. England and France should never have allowed themselves to get into this situation.

Great Story Difficult Narration
Revisado: 01-28-18
This was a great story. I find all of Paul Johnson's work very well done. Unfortunately, I could not listen to this thru the stereo system in my truck as it was difficult to understand the narration. I was forced to listen thru my LG BT headset which I prefer not to do. I believe it had something to do with the recording. That was disappointing.
