really enjoyed the continuation of this series, even if the frequent violence and that's of violence are pretty hard to bear sometimes.

a window into first century Christianity

it took a chapter for me to get into it. i think it was mainly due to the larger number of character stories. but I left the book for a few months, and when I came back to it, I was really drawn in to the time period and the characters. having finished, I am now eager to read the next book in the series.

I did not find her stores compelling, or her many casual drug references insightful. the "wisdom" was personal vanity and lacking in depth. overall, not what I expected.
