Burnout. Many women in America have experienced it. What’s expected of women and what it’s really like to be a woman in today’s world are two very different things - and women exhaust themselves trying to close the gap between them. Sisters Emily Nagoski, PhD, and Amelia Nagoski, DMA, are here to help end the cycle of feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Instead of asking us to ignore the very real obstacles and societal pressures that stand between women and well-being, they explain with compassion and optimism what we’re up against - and teach us how to fight back.

Vital information for every person in my life.
Revisado: 12-13-19
Thank for throwing some real hard and fresh fricken science at all the things that I’ve been struggling with. This might easily be the most validating and vital text ever written. Every female in my life is getting a copy of this book for Christmas And birthdays until I’m surrounded by women who KNOW this science to be real & start healing the world, but helping themselves. We’ve all seen it 1 million times in the flight safety catalog “first place the oxygen mask on yourself before assisting others”. The antithesis of human giver syndrome. And I love it.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Revisado: 03-22-19
I’m on my third cycle of listening to this audiobook back-to-back. I even ordered a printed copy so I can follow along and take notes. The information provided within this book is practical, approachable and exactly what I was seeking. The performer has a gentle deep voice that is the prefect balance of soothing and strong, and won’t put you to sleep. The world can use more yogis, I hope this review inspires you to read & practice. Namaste.

Power is changing. Private corner offices and management by decree are out, as is unquestioned trust in the government and media. These former pillars of traditional power have been replaced by networks of informed citizens who collectively wield more power over their personal lives, employers, and worlds than ever before. So how do you navigate this new landscape and come out on top? Adam Grant, Wharton organizational psychologist, went to the World Economic Forum in Davos, the epicenter of power, and sat down with thought leaders from around the world, to find out.

I gained a lot of insight from this book. I’m transitioning through both professional and personal environments and the information presented in this book is both fresh, refreshing and inspiring. I wish there were PDF’s or links to sources mentioned at the end of the “growth mentality” chapter. Overall I really the performance, information and story! Well done.

Much of what we hear about who gets to the top, and how, is wrong. Those who become chief executives set their sights on the C-suite at an early age. In fact, over 70 percent of the CEOs didn't have designs on the corner office until later in their careers. You must graduate from an elite college. In fact, only seven percent of CEOs in the dataset are Ivy League graduates - and eight percent didn't graduate from college at all. To become a CEO you need a flawless résumé. The reality: 45 percent of CEO candidates had at least one major career blowup.

Absolutely read this. Don’t ask why, just trust me. THIS is information that will actually change your life if you listen & apply. NO ITS NOT going to turn you into a CEO - it more about how to be a LEADER in aspects of your career that I bet will hurl you above your current management staff. This book is for those of us brave enough to make it happen! I’m buying my bosses all a copy of this. It’s incredible & this is my subtle way of simultaneously all of them- YOU’RE DOING IT WRONG & I told you so! While also leading the pack within my own department. READ IT

When Caitlin Moran sat down to choose her favorite pieces for her new book, she realized that they all shared a common theme - the same old problems and the same old asshats. Then she thought of the word Moranifesto, and she knew what she had to do.... Introducing every piece and weaving her writing together into a brilliant, seamless narrative - just as she did in Moranthology - Caitlin combines the best of her recent columns with lots of new writing unique to this book.

Astonishing information.
Revisado: 07-20-16
It seem that my whole life I was searching for the information in this book. I came upon this book by strange chance, and I'm so pleased to have found it. Thank you audible for having us in your library this book has shown me so much about myself and my family structure. I absolutely recommend it, not only to those who feel that they might have emotionally immature parents, but also for those people who feel that their own partner might be suffering from emotionally immature parents. Performance only gets 3 stars because the narrator seemed to inconsistently flip-flop between the "character voice" to a regular reading voice when it came to the case studies, or examples from clients.
