Learned so much of all the sacrifices
Revisado: 03-19-25
I enjoy the Anne characters and how well they were voiced. It gave me thankfulness for all the sacrifices that were made in WW1.

Historia
Guy Montag is a fireman. In his world, where television rules and literature is on the brink of extinction, firemen start fires rather than put them out. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television "family."

Very interesting story that shows how society can quickly turn into strange ways. It was heartening to see him come awake and want more out of life. Sad that his wife was so far gone.

Leigh Beth Stilton has never liked the holidays. After growing up in an unstable home, escaping an abusive marriage, and witnessing daily tragedies as an EMT, Leigh just can’t bring herself to care about Christmas cheer. In fact, she’s so convinced she’s not worth loving that one winter’s eve, she decides she can’t go on—until she comes across a book called Bethel and starts to read. Leigh is unfamiliar with the author, J.D. Harper, but his words speak directly to her. She’s never felt so seen and understood, and this connection gives her the strength to carry on.

Not exactly a Christmas story
Revisado: 12-26-24
Quite similar to other books. A bit hallmarky. Interesting characters but the story is a bit predictable.

When Balestier disappears on the streets of London one day, his great friend - Rudyard Kipling—bursts into Enola's office looking for help in finding him. Brash and unwilling to hire a young woman, instead he turns to Sherlock Holmes. Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Very enlightening to Marilla’s character as is played out in the rest of the books.

It was a good story, very emotion invoking throughout. It showed how Marilla‘s youth affected her adult life as shown in the other books . It also had some interesting historical events regarding slavery in America, its effects on Canada.
