Historia
In 1986, Paul Newman and his closest friend, screenwriter Stewart Stern, began an extraordinary project. Stuart was to compile an oral history, to have Newman’s family and friends and those who worked closely with him, talk about the actor’s life. And then Newman would work with Stewart and give his side of the story. The only stipulation was that anyone who spoke on the record had to be completely honest. The result is The Extraordinary Life of an Ordinary Man—revelatory and introspective, personal and analytical, loving and tender in places, always complex and profound.

Awesome Narration!
Revisado: 11-03-23
Even if the story line was not insightful to Newman's life, this was the best narration I've ever heard. It really keeps you engrossed in the story.

Historia
The time is 1933, the place, Berlin, when William E. Dodd becomes America’s first ambassador to Hitler’s Germany in a year that proved to be a turning point in history. A mild-mannered professor from Chicago, Dodd brings along his wife, son, and flamboyant daughter, Martha. At first Martha is entranced by the parties and pomp, and the handsome young men of the Third Reich with their infectious enthusiasm for restoring Germany to a position of world prominence. Enamored of the “New Germany,” she has one affair after another....

If you could sum up In the Garden of Beasts in three words, what would they be?
Compelling
Insightful
Historically important
What did you like best about this story?
The book provides what was going on in Hitler's world prior to what the rest of the world was aware of or willing to address. Very compelling.
Which scene was your favorite?
There are no favorite scenes. This was a brutal time in history. The book provides insights that other sources don't.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Hitler: Who Knew What!
Any additional comments?
The point of view is one which we haven't had before. It's that of the ambassador to Berlin during the 30s. We see what was going on in Germany at the time and the diplomatic reactions. Intertwined with the historical aspects is the ambassador's family.

Historia
For four years, from the election of John Fitzgerald Kennedy until after the election of Lyndon Johnson, Clint Hill was the Secret Service agent assigned to guard the glamorous and private Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy. During those four years, he went from being a reluctant guardian to a fiercely loyal watchdog and friend. Looking back, Clint Hill tells his story for the first time, offering a tender and tragic portrayal of how a Secret Service agent who started life in an orphanage became the most trusted man in the life of the First Lady who captivated first the nation and then the world.

Another Jackie book!
Revisado: 05-29-12
Where does Mrs. Kennedy and Me rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It's at the top.
What did you like best about this story?
Agent Hill did not do a sleezy book. He covered the time that he was on Mrs. K's watch. The segment on the assassination is about as moving as they come. Extremely touching.
Have you listened to any of Jeremy Bobb’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No. But a very good performance on this audio.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Agent Hill and Camelot
Any additional comments?
I highly recommend this book. Admittedly, I'm a Jackie fan and have read many books on her. This is in a differnt light and perspective. It's one of those books that you can't put down.

Historia
Released in our ‘Young Adult Classics’ format, Emily Brontë’s classic story of passion and enduring love is a masterpiece of the gothic genre. Menacing, mysterious Heathcliff and willful, beautiful Cathy are two of the best-known characters in all of English literature. Freda Dowie gives a compelling reading of a novel as bleak and elemental as the moors upon which it is set.

Same old, same old
Revisado: 05-29-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
It's Wuthering Heights. What can I say. It's boring. Sorry, I know that it's a classic, but it is so depressing. Even the name "Wuthering" conjures depression as well as the names of the characters. There's nothing wrong with the performance. The readers do a very good job of relaying the feeling of the book. (I read it years ago in high school and had to read it again recently for a book club. That's the only reason I see for reading this ... if you have to do so!)
Would you ever listen to anything by Emily Brontë again?
Probably not.
Have you listened to any of Freda Dowie and Ken Drury ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not listened to their performances on other books; however, very competent.
Was Wuthering Heights worth the listening time?
Nope! (Okay, it did help to listen to it before going to bed. I fell asleep quite quickly.)
Any additional comments?
In general, I like your audio books. And I think that they are good values.
