Historia
Judy Goodman and Beverly Caldwell have different reasons for putting continents and oceans between themselves and their disparate pasts, but they have the same desire—to earn a coveted position on an elite team of stewardesses for Pan American Airlines. For Judy, running away from an oppressive marriage in small-town Pennsylvania is a risk she must take. And for Beverly, leaving behind the gilded cage of New York society will allow her to pursue a future of her own making.

I did fly away!
Revisado: 03-02-25
This book paints very vivid images of a life and a time gone by. I hadn’t realized what a life changing opportunity a career as a Stewardess was for women then. The two protagonists lives are markedly different yet they both become similarly strong as women and professionals. A wonderful story about many things but as a woman blessed with deep friendships, this became a very personal story. Wonderful imagery, I felt like I was right there, in every scene, especially the travel scenes and it was a great “staycation!”

Historia
The Barnes family is in trouble. Dickie’s once-lucrative car business is going under—but Dickie is spending his days in the woods, building an apocalypse-proof bunker with a renegade handyman. His wife, Imelda, is selling off her jewelry on eBay and half-heartedly dodging the attention of fast-talking cattle farmer Big Mike, while their teenage daughter, Cass, formerly top of her class, seems determined to binge drink her way through her final exams. As for twelve-year-old PJ, he’s on the brink of running away.

What?!? It’s Over?
Revisado: 05-15-24
I loved the first part of the story, laughed all the way through PJ’s first chapter but then it got progressively depressing. The character development was well done and the descriptions of their mental states so vivid you could feel their anxieties and worries and physical attractions as though they were your own. My only problem was that it was so depressing, but I was hooked in, so kept moving forward waiting for the payoff and I thought I was going to get it but at the moment of climax it was over.

Historia
For Dee Kwan, every day is the perfect day. No, really. She has a house she loves, a job she adores, and a ridiculously attractive “nemesis” who never seems to mind when she wins their favorite online game. How can life possibly get better? (It can’t, obviously. It can only get much, much worse.) Soon Dee is forced to share her adorably cozy home with her parents and estranged grandmother. Then she’s tossed into the deep end at work, tasked with cleaning up a scandal for the intimidatingly chic luxury fashion firm Celeste. If that weren’t enough, she discovers her hot nemesis works there, too.

I really enjoyed this book. I was there in every scene, experiencing the atmosphere. The emotion, the relationship, even the food and the climate it was perfect. Great books do that for you

This book offers a needed perspective to a terrible trend
Revisado: 08-22-22
I didn’t know when I started this book that it was about a school shooting. I live in San Antonio, 80 miles from the town of Uvalde, where 10 weeks ago a young man entered Robb Elementary killing 19 children and 2 adults to for me, the timing was good. Painful but a way to process and have suggested answers for the million questions: What was he thinking? What happened in his life to make him think this was a solution? What the heck kind of a family life did this shooter endure? And worst of all, how will the victims families go on? How troubled will all the youth at that school be…forever? There aren’t any “save the day” options in a story like this but it left me at peace. It IS a great book.

Historia
New York, 1888. Gas lamps still flicker in the city streets, but the miracle of electric light is in its infancy. The person who controls the means to turn night into day will make history - and a vast fortune. A young untested lawyer named Paul Cravath, fresh out of Columbia Law School, takes a case that seems impossible to win. Paul's client, George Westinghouse, has been sued by Thomas Edison over a billion-dollar question: Who invented the lightbulb and holds the right to power the country?

This may be one of the best stories of the progression of America (hence the world) one can enjoy. I’m ashamed not to have known this Wall Street saga Or that Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse were contemporaries battling for “the” patent. Who knows this? All Americans and mainly American youth, need to hear this story and prayerfully be inspired to create.

I really enjoyed reading this book. My dad grew up in Brooklyn during this period and it brought a very real image of his life to mind. Tom (also my father’s name) was a favorite character, such a gentleman and a soldier. Thank you Camille Di Maio, for another terrific book!

“Almost a 10”
Revisado: 06-07-22
I did enjoy the book I just had a hard time with the voice of Morgan. Every time she was narrating a chapter it took me a few minutes to get over trying to figure out why it sounded so odd. I don’t know it sounded almost like it was a digitized voice. I tried slowing it down speeding it up at it didn’t help that much but other than that I really enjoyed the back
