Historia
Tim and his friends find out the hard way that you shouldn't question the game master, and you shouldn't make fun of his cape. One minute, they're drinking away the dreariness of their lives, escaping into a fantasy game and laughing their asses off. The next minute, they're in a horse-drawn cart surrounded by soldiers pointing crossbows at them.

good story line, unlikeable characters
Revisado: 04-13-24
I bought this book years ago when I first got into LitRPG, and I started it then but never finished it. I finally sat down and finished it. I disliked it for the same reason I put it down the characters are not likeable. I didn't find a redeeming quality in any of them. I wanted all the characters to just go away. I kept hoping that they had some deeper motivation, but none emerged. The plot was interesting and has a lot of promise, but I won't be reading any of the sequels.

Historia
Rook is given the honor to be a visiting professor at his alma mater, and he can't pass up the opportunity to mentor burgeoning writers at his former award-winning college newspaper. Shortly after his arrival on campus, a female reporter for the paper is found dead - naked - in Rook's bed. Dealing with betrayal from any man is not Nikki's style. She and Jameson have had plenty of conflicts during their complicated relationship, but none like this. Is her husband keeping secrets of his own, or can she really trust him?

voice acting affecting the story positively
Revisado: 05-04-18
I really enjoy this book. the story was engaging and the book continued at a pace that made me not want to stop listening. the performance also really changed the story for me for the better. when I read I usually put my own accent to the characters, but in this case I could feel how down trodden the reds were and I could imagine the characters being from New York at the turn of the century like in Gangs of New York. it gave them a depthi wasn't expecting. really well read and written

Historia
The Shinkolobwe Mine in the Belgian Congo was described by a 1943 Manhattan Project intelligence report as the "most important deposit of uranium yet discovered in the world". So long as the United States remained in control of this mine and its supply, it had a world monopoly on the primary material needed to build an atomic bomb. The uranium from this mine was used to build the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

interesting story
Revisado: 04-12-18
this was an interesting story about the history of how Congo was involved in the Atomic bomb project.
the book was dry at times with just people's names and there were times where it was jumping from one character to another. but the reader was great. her voice made it a fun read.

Historia
Neal Stephenson is a blazing new force on the sci-fi scene. With the groundbreaking cyberpunk novel Snow Crash, he has "vaulted onto the literary stage." It weaves virtual reality, Sumerian myth, and just about everything in between with a cool, hip cybersensibility - in short, it is the gigathriller of the information age.
