London, 1968: The body of a teenage girl is found just steps away from the Beatles' Abbey Road recording studio. The police are called to a residential street in St John's Wood where an unidentified young woman has been strangled. Excellent
Revisado: 02-07-22
Enjoyed the story, the characters and the setting, but the details of the book were the best part. What people drove/what they smoked/what they ate, it was all so reminiscent of the late sixties. Especially the food. With no fast food Breen and Towser share a quarter pound of cheese and a lemonade from the shop. It made me laugh and brought back all the Cornish pasties and warm cans of coke we had on family outings. Ordering the next in the series now.

Historia
January 1946: London is emerging from the shadow of the Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. Who could imagine that she would find it in a letter from a man she’s never met, a native of the island of Guernsey, who has come across her name written inside a book by Charles Lamb.... As Juliet and her new correspondent exchange letters, Juliet is drawn into the world of this man and his friends - and what a wonderfully eccentric world it is.

fun

It was so easy to listen to, and the characters were all appealing and lively. It was also well read. My only reservation was I didn't entirely buy that such a posh sounding lady would end up with the Guernseyman farmer. I wanted to believe it, but I had me doubts.

Historia
Ethan Muller is struggling to establish his reputation as a dealer in the cut-throat world of contemporary art, when he stumbles onto a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: in a decaying New York slum, an elderly tenant named Victor Cracke has disappeared, leaving behind a staggeringly large trove of original artwork. Nobody can say anything for certain about Cracke, except that he came and went in solitude for nearly forty years, his genius hidden and unacknowledged. All that is about to change.

Disappointed
Revisado: 01-22-10
For the first time ever I gave up on an audiobook. I didn't like any of the characters, especially the protagonist, and I hated the "interlude" sections about his parents. I didn't believe any of them to be real people. To be honest, I didn't enjoy the way it was narrated either.
Very disappointed.
