Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Where does The Way of Kings rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The hands down best fiction I have read. I'm more interested in sci-fi, and this does have elements of it, but this book has been created so well, it trumps anything I have ever read.
If someone where to ask you for your favorite piece of art, you would probably say the Mona Lisa, or Guernica. This book is akin to a grand museum. Do not let that intimidate you. This books contains many cultures: fashion, architecture, physiologies, religions, customs, sayings, and more. But given its feudal setting, the author used the ignorance of the characters to seamlessly introduce much of this in a digestible pace that also enriches character development. I do warn that the beginning does not have that luxury however. You may have a bit of trouble at the prologue. Push through it. It gets better and better, so don't let the slow start put you off.
What did you like best about this story?
I love the novelty of nearly every aspect. When you think fiction, you think laser beams, space ships, aliens, elves, dwarfs, spells, or swords. Wipe that slate clean. This book combines many aspects of each to introduce a new mechanic to magic that holds consistent and leaves you wondering more about it all the time. I also liked that they didn't lean on it too much. Similar to "Game of Thrones", magic has its place, but it cannot replace out-maneuvering your opponent with conventional means. But it does have enough of a place as to force innovation. Even new weather patterns such as highs storms play a beautiful role in the development of the cultures. And if you want to find out more check out the other books in the series.
I will also say what I liked least about the book. Their replacement of swear words with "Storm". God that makes me cringe inside. You get used to it, but the worst word they use is "bastard". I suppose it makes it better for kids to read. With the exception of the violence, this book definitely keeps things PG.
What does Kate Reading and Michael Kramer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I can't endorse this book without mentioning the narrators. They breathe a life into the characters that speaks of passion in their work. They amplify all the depth the author gave the characters and more. I don't know if they used two people to cover the book faster, or to bind them more closely to their respective male and female characters. But they have most certainly accomplished the latter.
In addition to all the cultures and lore created by the author, the narrators imparted accents onto the characters, greatly enriching the story and distinguishing the characters. They have done their job so well, I'm afraid that if/when they release a movie on this, I'll hear only hear discrepancies from what I believe will be closer to perfection.

The book starts out with relatively basic facts about the brain, then gets more detailed. Eventually, he simply cites various theories of memory, and draws no conclusion from them. This is as scientific as the book gets. From there, he cites studies from which he derives health tips that amount to "exercise and eat well". Then he gives mental exercises with nearly no scientific backing.
