Historia
When an unidentified, seemingly healthy young woman collapses suddenly on the New York City subway and dies upon reaching the hospital, her case is an eerie reminder for veteran medical examiner Jack Stapleton of the 1918 flu pandemic. Fearful of a repeat on the 100th anniversary of the nightmarish contagion, Jack autopsies the woman within hours of her demise and discovers some striking anomalies: first, that she has had a heart transplant, and second, that, against all odds, her DNA matches that of the transplanted heart.

Don't pay for Narration
Revisado: 03-30-20
This book was not as exciting or enjoyable as other Robin Cook stories, but the narration made it worse than it is. I stopped the narration and read the rest of it. Listening to this poor man take a gasp between words because he couldn't make it to the end of each sentence was torture. l found myself paying more attention to the narrator's problems than listening to the story.
If you must read this so-so, unexciting book, don't waste money on the narration.

SLOW SLOW SLOW
Revisado: 04-19-19
The story was so boring to me that I kept quitting it, vowing never to finish. But I started again... three times .. before I finally finished it.
Perhaps it did not help that the person performing the book read it so VERY SLOWLY it sounded like he was teaching physics to a kindergarten class. With every sentence I wanted to scream at the speakers for him to pick up the pace! it took forever for him to finish reading this book and by then I was just sick of it, but I couldn't stand not finishing it since I did pay for it. Maybe someone to whom the subject material was more interesting would find the whole story more interesting.
I found it incredibly boring. Even the dialog between characters just dragged out for so long as to be ridiculous. Sorry.

Not the story I was expecting
Revisado: 03-16-19
I was under the impression that this was a mystery suspense in the traditional sense, so I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak, but as I got closer to the end I began to suspect that the story was merely about a mentally disturbed child. It was very well written as a family drama, and very well performed, but a family drama about handlng an emotionally disturbed child and all the psychologist visits, etc, even though she ended up creating great damage, was stll pretty boring to me for 98% of the chapters, when I was expecting a different sort of mystery suspense book.
Buyer beware, this is more of a true life family channel drama with lots of extra drama. I was almost relieved when it ended because I was exhausted from this kid's out of control antics and the father's denying her ability to have hostile motives at 6 & 7 yrs old, as well as not recognizing the need to get the child out of the home as soon as possible when she became dangerous and uncontrollable.

Excellent story, excellent performance!
Revisado: 11-28-18
I love a good detective story, but this was something quite different. It combined a detective story with major historical events of the 1960s as the backdrop, in a realistic and convincing way. I was especially taken with the reader performance of this story. His voice was interesting, calming, exciting, frightening... whenever the text called for it. He really seemed to be in the head of the characters and spoke as if he felt what was happening. Plan to read the next book in the series.
