I love David Sedaris so much I simply can’t be objective. This book kept me laughing from start to finish. His insight and humor are so unique yet so relatable. He sees humankind and circumstances in such a straightforward, honest, and totally hilarious way. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has a sense of humor.

This book was well written and easy to follow the facts. It is a VERY interesting story that was well told. Now for my criticism. I cannot begin to tell you how annoying the “parts” within every chapter were. I listened to the audiobook. Every chapter for some unknowable reason were divided into “parts”. So every couple of pages there was a new “part” within the chapter. Listening to that felt like I was being shocked with a cattle prod every time the narrator said “part one or two or three”. Holy Moly!! Why why do chapters have to have parts? Unfathomable and unnecessary! I love this author’s books but I sure hope I don’t run into another one with this craziness. Please!

I can see why the author needed to write this book but I cannot see why anyone needs to read it. It was page after tortuous page of people whose drug and alcohol use and bad behavior destroyed their lives and those close to them. I confess I am not sympathetic to the character deficiencies of people who abuse themselves with substances so I may not be the best reviewer of this book. If I had endured one more story of the author vomiting I might have done so myself. I didn’t see redemption or salvation, only dismal survival including my own for finishing the book. I felt trapped in a gray fog with people I wanted to get away from. I hate casting such negativity on the author’s story. But I felt compelled to save others with similar opinions of substance abuse self-destructiveness from spending time and money with this book. “Waste” would have been a better title.

I truly believe Michael Cohen is on a journey of redemption and fully accepts responsibility for the things he did. He paints a detailed, first-hand picture of Donald Trump and the terrible ways he has harmed people close to him as well as the entire American citizenship. Everyone who cares about this country should read this book.

I love Al because he is sooo funny. What I didn't know and learned is how very intelligent he is and how seriously dedicated he is to being a good senator. It isn't about power and prestige for him. It's about serving the people of his state and working tirelessly to make their lives better. Makes this Texan want to move to Minnesota!
