Historia
Michelle Taylor is not who her new family in Lancaster County believes her to be. The Lapps were looking for their long-lost granddaughter when they met Michelle, and she assumed the identity of Sara Murray. Once homeless and hopeless, Michelle has come to love her new Amish friends and even considers the idea of romance among them. Finding an old blue jar in the barn that is filled with slips of paper containing thoughts, quotes, and prayers by an unknown author becomes a boost to Michelle’s budding faith.

Too Many Unrealistic Plot Holes
Revisado: 01-29-20
Like many Amish books, this was a bit too "teachy." Too much, here is what this word is in Pennsylvania Dutch, and here's how to say this...
But even though this book was left very unresolved, I can't force myself to listen to the next in the sequal because of too many unrealistic things in the plot. We're supposed to believe she can be treated in the hospital under a fake name with zero issues coming up? umm...ID? Medical Insurance? Forms?
Plus everything "English" is abustive men, dirty hotels, and drugs, while the worst thing to happen in an Amish town is a man neglecting to tell his father he bought a truck? You can show case the differences between the cultures without making everything so black and white.

Unbelievable Character Cluelessness
Revisado: 05-25-19
Perhaps a middle schooler might like it, but I found it repetitive and predictable. One of those where it's not believable that the narrator doesn't "catch on" to what's going on. Even a young child would have predicted most of this so it's not believable that a highly intelligent 13 year old would be this lost. Plus we're supposed to think the police can't figure it out? Please.

Historia
Bobby Beckerson was the American all-star hockey player. He was the spitting image of perfection to his family. Goofy, sweet, and undeniably gorgeous, he had everything but the one girl he wanted, River Ahlers. River Ahlers is successful in everything but love. She's been in love with Adam Beckerson since they were kids. Worst of all she's stuck right in the middle of the brothers dueling over everything and anything, and she doesn't even know she's the ultimate prize.

very poor quality
Revisado: 02-16-19
I could only make it through chapter 5. The recording quality is low and sounds like someone using a cassette recorder to record their own voice. The story doesn't grab your attention, at all, and the characters up til this point are very flat and unoriginal.

Historia
At 28, Stephanie Land's dreams of attending a university and becoming a writer quickly dissolved when a summer fling turned into an unplanned pregnancy. Before long, she found herself a single mother, scraping by as a housekeeper to make ends meet. Maid is an emotionally raw, masterful account of Stephanie's years spent in service to upper-middle-class America as a "nameless ghost" who quietly shared in her clients' triumphs, tragedies, and deepest secrets.

wow!
Revisado: 01-28-19
Grabs your attention right away and keeps it to the end. At first, hearing Stephanie describe her difficulties made me feel so grateful for my own circumstances, but by the end I realized her daughter Mia is the one who should be grateful. Stephanie is such a strong role model and a great mom.

Being a Jewish housewife isn't all bagels and borscht. There's a much deeper, sometimes darker, and often laugh-out-loud funny side to Jewish female life that's uncovered in The Secret Diary of a Jewish Housewife. This is a book for spiritual seekers, original thinkers, and all those women who also grapple with life's big questions.

I was not able to get very far into this book. The author and reader spoke too quickly and unclearly. She also spoke monotonously.

I'm now a fan!!
Revisado: 10-22-16
I didn't know much about Chip and JoJo prior to reading this book. I'd caught the show a few times (while at the dentist, we don't have cable) and so I thought I'd check out the book.
I loved reading about their crazy wonderful life and adventures!
