I am so grateful I read this book. It clarified a great deal of misinformation, overlapping presentations, and just plain wrong bits of history for me. What an inspirational read!

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Strange dichotomy of the story
Revisado: 01-01-23
It seems odd that the entire first half of the book seems to be about a boy, an old man, and a dog, and the second half seems to be transferred to a land that combines Narnia, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and the Wizard of Oz. I enjoyed it but was confused about the structure.

Historia
The lives of Hannibal and his Roman enemies are the stuff of legend. But these classic stories contain truths with relevance today: The seeds of our successes lie in our failures, and within our successes are the kernels of our failure. Knowing how to recognize these paradoxes will help us to be more effective at work, at school, at home, and with others. A big new idea book that springs from ancient history, Hannibal and Me explores these exciting ideas by analyzing the experiences of Hannibal and others who made their mark on history.
