Historia
One sunny August afternoon, the residents of Cedar Close throw their annual summer barbecue. Children play in the cherry-tree lined street, tables are laden with food, and the wine is flowing. For Laurie Mills, it’s her first time meeting the neighbours. And it’s the first time she discovers her husband, Robert, is having an affair. Cedar Close has always been a nice place to live - a quiet suburban street where everyone looks out for one another and bad things don’t happen. Until late one evening, when Robert Mills is found dead in his bedroom.

Predictable
Revisado: 12-16-22
It's always disappointing to focus of who the killer is less than halfway through a book and never feel the need to examine that discovery. It was a decent story, but the author gives too many obvious hints. I'd even figured out the "big twist" that gets revealed in the last page.

The story was okay. It was obvious what the story's "twist" would be long before I reached the halfway point. It was disappointing.

Disappointing

That really says it all. It seemed interesting in the beginning, then the main issue seemed to shift and then get dropped. Then, all of a sudden, it was over with an overly contrived ending.

It has potential...
Revisado: 11-03-21
It's ironic that a book based around a female book publisher, who tells her husband that his manuscript needs work because the story needs to be rounded out, has that exact problem. It's told in jerky fashion, bouncing around time periods without explanation. And then it has a worse ending than the first "Hobbit" movie. At least they had the excuse that it was a trilogy, so the story wasn't actually over. This was just... lazy.

Amazing psychological thriller
Revisado: 10-30-21
I don't think I've ever read (or listened to) a book and had to wait for the last couple of pages/minutes for the big twist. Now that I know the twist, I'm seriously considering listening to it again to see if it changes the way I see things.
Great book. HIGHLY recommended!

I love the first 3 books in the series. They were real nail biters. But I knew the culprit in this one way too soon.

So many twists
Revisado: 09-22-21
It's hard to figure out how she fit sí many twists in such a relatively short story. Every time I thought I had things figured out... BAM! Another twist. Right up to the end!
While it takes place during the height of COVID-19, it only serves as a backdrop for the story. It's not the central focus.

Good, but...
Revisado: 08-07-21
This was a really good book. I just wanted to keep listening, it had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation. But then it just... ended. Dozens of loose threads, unsolved Mysteries. Even a book that's going to be part of a series needs its own ending.

Engrossing!
Revisado: 12-27-20
I love the premise and the backstory. I love the characters... ALL of them. And there are A LOT of characters. But between the skills of three author and the skill of the performer managing to do SO many voices, I rarely have difficulty placing the names of even the most remote of characters. The story, the plot, the intrigue, and the characters just pull you in and won't let go!
