Historia
Quinn Quicksilver was born a mystery—abandoned at three days old on a desert highway in Arizona. Raised in an orphanage, never knowing his parents, Quinn had a happy if unexceptional life. Until the day of “strange magnetism.” It compelled him to drive out to the middle of nowhere. It helped him find a coin worth a lot of money. And it practically saved his life when two government agents showed up in the diner in pursuit of him. Now Quinn is on the run from those agents and who knows what else, fleeing for his life.

It is very interesting. it will stay with me a long time. You need to read it against the backdrop of today's headlines. It is a bit like The Stand and Armageddon. The reader did a very good job.

Historia
Years ago, bookseller and mystery aficionado Malcolm Kershaw compiled a list of the genre’s most unsolvable murders, those that are almost impossible to crack - which he titled "Eight Perfect Murders". But no one is more surprised than Mal, now the owner of the Old Devils Bookstore in Boston, when an FBI agent comes knocking on his door one snowy day in February. She’s looking for information about a series of unsolved murders that look eerily similar to the killings on Mal’s old list. And the FBI agent isn’t the only one interested in this bookseller.

Unique plot
Revisado: 07-04-22
I have been reading mysteries for over 60 years, and have read almost every plot that could be fashioned. This one is by far the most unusual story.

Historia
Mesopotamia is the ancient name for the region that is now Iraq, a remarkably advanced civilization that flourished for two-thirds of the time that civilization has existed on Earth. Mesopotamians mastered irrigation agriculture; built the first complex urban societies; developed writing, literature, and law; and united vast regions through warfare and diplomacy. While civilizations like Greece and Rome have an unbroken tradition of written histories, the rich history of Mesopotamia has only been recently rediscovered, thanks to the decipherment of Mesopotamia's cuneiform writing less than 200 years ago.

Revisado: 02-02-22
It is a typical cozy mystery. A murder off camera, an amateur sleuth. and a budding romance. it does offer the recipes for the cited cookies. since I listened to it in Audible I have to go back and write them down, but they are quite tasty.

Historia
Professor Augustus S. F. X. Van Dusen, with the help of his friend newspaper reporter Hutchison Hatch, solves a variety of mysteries using cold, hard logic. No matter how twisted the trail of clues or how clever the perpetrator, Professor Van Dusen, aptly dubbed “The Thinking Machine”, reminds us that “two and two make four, not some times, but all the time”.

An old friend
Revisado: 05-09-21
I read these stories in high school and to find them here was like sitting down with an old friend and hearing them all over again. The readers are very smooth and resonant . Th stories make you think about the possible outcomes of your actions. He is like Sherlock Holmes, Nero Wolfe, and Hercule Poirot all in one. since theses were written in the late 19th century or early 20th century (the author died on the Titanic) many latter day detectives seem to have taken a page out of his books. 2+2=4 not just sometimes, but all the time. logic rules.

Historia
He has much in common with super-sleuths Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot, but there's a difference - Judge Dee Jen-djieh was a real person! Gathered here are tales of actual crimes solved by the magistrate of Chang-ping in 7th-century China. Listen as Dee ventures down winding paths in ancient graveyards to consult the spirits of the dead, and hear him solve real-life crimes through astute deductions.

very interesting.
Revisado: 04-04-21
The stories are very descriptive of China over 1,000 years ago.
It lets us look at how the average person lived and the strict codes of conduct for each class.
The lives of innkeeper, silk merchants, students, tutors, shopkeepers, policemen, court personnel
and the judge are laid bare as we peek behind the veil of time.
Each vignette is a complete story in itself, strung together like an intricate necklace.
The narrator's voice is strong and steady, adding weight to the serious actions described throughout.
Robert Van Gulik translated many Judge Dee books. I wish more were recorded for Audible.

it starts out as a normal mystery but has elements of the hilarious movie "Clue" with secret passages and shuffling of the body, a strange gardner and a cast of unusual gentlemen friends. Great story for a quarantine night. :)
