Historia
Zachary Ezra Rawlins is a graduate student in Vermont when he discovers a mysterious book hidden in the stacks. As he turns the pages, entranced by tales of lovelorn prisoners, key collectors, and nameless acolytes, he reads something strange: a story from his own childhood. Bewildered by this inexplicable book and desperate to make sense of how his own life came to be recorded, Zachary uncovers a series of clues - a bee, a key, and a sword.

An Escape for the Mind
Revisado: 03-03-24
I love this book. It takes me away from all that troubles me. It is beautifully written and makes me imagine surreal places and things and possibilities. It’s a world within a world that fantasy and dreams are made of. I’ve read it twice. Once during Covid when we couldn’t escape, and it was like a balm for my soul. Now, a second time when my life has had severe troubles and the Starless Sea has again, aided in my healing. It is whimsical in the best way, complicated and mysterious enough to keep my interest and make me listen deeply. An expansion of my imagination and reminder of my creativity. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to lose themselves in storytelling.

Will Guidara was twenty-six when he took the helm of Eleven Madison Park, a struggling two-star brasserie that had never quite lived up to its majestic room. Eleven years later, EMP was named the best restaurant in the world. How did Guidara pull off this unprecedented transformation? Radical reinvention, a true partnership between the kitchen and the dining room—and memorable, over-the-top, bespoke hospitality.

Unexpectedly Wonderful
Revisado: 03-04-23
Confession: I snapped a pic of this pic when I was in my (notoriously difficult to work with) colleague’s office. I wanted to see what book he was investing his time in. I hoped to learn more about his ways to help us work better together. Jackpot.
What I didn’t expect was to take away so much for myself as well. This was a great read. Exciting and thought provoking. I also loved Will’s voice. Keep reading Will! Thank you!

Can a simple concept shift your entire world? Bob certainly thinks so. When it comes to loving your neighbors, instead of focusing on having the “right answers” or checking the “right boxes”, what if you decide to simply do love? To shamelessly show love and grace to those around you—what would that look like? Not the kind of love that stops at thoughts and feelings, Bob's love takes action. Bob believes Love Does.

Very uplifting and inspiring. I'm not a religious person and I really appreciated Bob's approach to his faith. It makes me want to take more chances in life!

Wonderful content, monotone voice puts me to sleep
Revisado: 05-25-17
This book is full of great information, and wonderful insight. I really enjoyed it, When I could concentrate enough on every word. While it is obvious the author is passionate about the subject, the monotone nature of the boys allowed me to tune it out as background noise more often than not. Therefore I had a very difficult time getting through this entire book. The softness and calmness of his voice was really good for the exercises portion of the book. Perfect for actually practicing meditation. However, I feel like I missed a good portion of good information because I completely zoned out nearly every time I I started to listen.

We have all seen, whether live, in photographs or on postcards, some of Claude Monet's legendary water lily paintings. They are in museums all over the world and are among the most beloved works of art of the past century. Yet, ironically, these soothing images were created amid terrible personal turmoil and sadness.

Beautiful and sad story. OK performance
Revisado: 05-10-17
I love learning more about Claude Monet, the story is both beautiful and sad. Performance was just OK. A little bit monotone, I found myself drifting off quite easily. However overall, if you are into the time period And the artist you will definitely enjoy this Book.

Historia
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

Really Good, But didn't live up to the Amazing reviews
Revisado: 11-29-16
A quiet book, well read, well written, decent story, predictable, full of tiny things that make life beautiful. I very much enjoyed the narrators voice. I feel that maybe on reflection and in evaluation I might enjoy the book even further. Not what I was expecting based on all the 5 star, "best book I've ever read in my life" reviews. Really good, not great.
