I really enjoyed this. It gives an insight into academic and scientific research culture the average person might not be familiar with.

The second step.
Revisado: 04-03-15
The thing that got me started down this road was a documentary on running and human evolution. That inspired me to try it and purchase some five finger shoes. My neighbor saw me running and suggested Born to Run. It was fantastic! I was not only encouraged by it, but inspired. Eat and Run is my second book on my running journey. Being a vegetarian and being interested in Ultramarathons lead me to it.
This story is very in depth. It in many ways it's more of a biography of Scott Jurek interlaced with practical advise on running, nutrition, and health living. Again, I found the book very inspirational and motivating.
The only thing I really didn't like was the readers voice. He had a kind of tough guy I've been through some crap but I'm too much of a man to talk about it voice. He sounded like someone who would be uncomfortable in a room of laughing jovial people. I can picture him trying to turn every conversation into "so how much can you bench".
If the reader reads this please don't take this as a personal attack. I'm sure everything I've imagined about you is not true. Next time you read, though, try not to sound so serious all through the whole thing.

I'm 41. I've been running off and on for most of my life. It's always been a dream of mine to run a marathon. Well, this book ruined that dream. Having been injured several times running, I've thrown off my shoes and adopted a new dream. 100 miles baby though the wilderness!! Woohoo!!

Historia
In today’s society, games are fulfilling real human needs in ways that reality is not. Hundreds of millions of people globally - 174 million in the United States alone - regularly inhabit game worlds because they provide the rewards, stimulating challenges and epic victories that are so often lacking in the real world. Jane McGonigal argues that we need to figure out how to make the real world—our homes, our businesses and our communities—engage us in the way that games do.

I loved the concept
Revisado: 02-26-13
What did you love best about Reality Is Broken?
I am a huge gamer. I'm also the Director of Education at a small private school for troubled teen boys. The ideas and concepts presented in this book resonated deeply with me. I'm so interested in this, I started a Master's Program at Texas A&M Commerce on Global eLearning. The ideas presented in this book are at the leading edge of education today. It is a fantastic read!
What does Julia Whelan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Julia Whelan's reading style and approach lent itself very well to this book. Her tone is lively and excited. Her enthusiasm for the topic is apparent though out.
