Historia
Ryan Drake is a man who finds people who don't want to be found. Once a British soldier, he now works for the CIA, leading an elite investigation team that tracks down missing agents. But his latest mission - to free a prisoner, code-named Maras, and bring her back onto US soil within 48 hours - is more dangerous than anything his team has attempted before. Hunted by his former comrades, Drake is left with no choice but to trust a dangerous woman he barely knows.

Mary Sue
Revisado: 01-24-24
The last thing I expected from the Critical Drinker was a Mary Sue. Put Maras in the Star Wars universe, and she'd crush Rey, Luke, Vader, and Yoda while sick, battered and not using any Force. I almost quit halfway through but decided to embrace it as a parody. That made it fun, at least. The narration was often hilarious also. When I heard one character, I always heard Schwarzenegger yelling, "Get to the choppa!"

Historia
1992. All across the United States respectable, upstanding citizens are showing up dead. These deaths could be accidents, and they don’t appear to be connected—until a fatal fall from a high-floor window attracts some unexpected attention. That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

Worst Reacher book yet
Revisado: 10-25-23
Terrible. I get that it’s fiction, so if things are a little unbelievable that’s okay. This was ridiculous. Super ninja beats five armed guys waiting in ambush with kicks and punches. Stupid.

Historia
As always, Reacher has no particular place to go, and all the time in the world to get there. One morning he ends up in a town near Pleasantville, Tennessee. But there’s nothing pleasant about the place. In broad daylight Reacher spots a hapless soul walking into an ambush. “It was four against one” . . . so Reacher intervenes, with his own trademark brand of conflict resolution. The man he saves is Rusty Rutherford, an unassuming IT manager, recently fired after a cyberattack locked up the town’s data, records, information . . . and secrets.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

This was terrible, and I loved Project Hail Mary
Revisado: 01-23-23
I couldn't decide of the plot or the characters were worse. The protagonist starts out as an unlikable narcissist, and evolves over the story to become an unlikable narcissist.
The plot is ridiculous. Full of holes and decisions that make 0 sense. It's a cartoon of a book. Sorry, that's too insulting. Cartoons have more realism than this.
Scooby-Doo is huge step up in story telling from this. Plus, the characters are likable.
Voice actor was great though.

The cold blooded assassin, deep down, has a heart of gold.
The street smart 14 year old can tell it like it is, and is wise beyond her years.
The bad ass fed, willing to break the rules for the guy she's known 5 minutes because she just knows he's a good guy.
The unpredictable twist at the end! If you've never read the genre it's a twist anyway.

I liked the change in perspective
Revisado: 08-06-22
The previous books were all in the third person. I liked the narrative change to first person for portions of the book. It appears I'm in the minority of that opinion, and the following book is back to the third person. Another fun page-turner.

Fun, but full of plot holes
Revisado: 08-03-22
I get that finding plot holes in a spy thriller is like being surprised by a Scooby-Doo ending, but these plot holes were huge.
Spoilers ahead:
The moment they captured the doctor that created the bioweopon it was done. They could infect everyone, but antibiotics solved everything.
Still, it was fun and entertaining.

Boring
Revisado: 04-22-22
Not as good as the first two books, but better than the last one. The characters make stupid decisions with predictable outcomes. The narrator is generally good, but I don't think all the accents required for this book played into his strengths. The Irish accent made me think, "I want me lucky charms."
