Historia
When Ruby King’s mother is found murdered in their home in Chicago’s South Side, the police dismiss it as another act of violence in a Black neighborhood. But for Ruby, it means she’ll be living alone with her violent father. The only person who understands the gravity of her situation is Ruby’s best friend, Layla. Their closeness is tested when Layla’s father, the pastor of their church, demands that Layla stay away. But what are his true motives? And what is the price for turning a blind eye?

Historia
The irascible A. J. Fikry, owner of Island Books - the only bookstore on Alice Island - has already lost his wife. Now his most prized possession, a rare book, has been stolen from right under his nose in the most embarrassing of circumstances. The store itself, it seems, will be next to go. One night upon closing, he discovers a toddler in his children’s section with a note from her mother pinned to her Elmo doll: I want Maya to grow up in a place with books and among people who care about such kinds of things. I love her very much, but I can no longer take care of her.

Was not sure....
Revisado: 10-01-15
I was not sure about this book at first, it's not one of my usual type of choices however it was recommended to me so I thought I would try it. ...I was not disappointed, it makes one appreciate what one has and to remember that everything happens for a reason, good or bad. A good listen for a quiet rainy day!

Could have been shorter
Revisado: 02-20-12
What did you love best about Sarah's Key?
I liked the way there were two points of view, a past and a present
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I didn't realize allot of the circumstances around Paris and the Jews, that was eye opening, however the ending was disappointing, I would have given a higher review if the ending ended two chapters sooner. That would be my only negative about this book.
What does Polly Stone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Polly Stone's accent is superb, the way she switched back and forth between a french accent and then to an English without missing a beat kept you seeing the story in your mind's eye.
Any additional comments?
Other than the slow start and the last two chapters, the book was good, just a little long.

Loved it!
Revisado: 01-20-12
What made the experience of listening to Winter's Bone the most enjoyable?
The Narrator's voice FIT, and fit well with the backwoods Ebonics....placed you there, sitting in the house by the pot belly...
