The Long Disappointment
Revisado: 01-10-24
I loved the concept of the long earth and all its possibilities-- it's an idea that invokes wonder! The Long War and The Long Mars systematically destroyed that sense of wonder. Beyond every horizon is a perverse or disappointing discovery. Why does the crab king have sex slaves? Why are the hyper intelligent teen girls swimming naked and having loud sex in public? Every character is unpleasant and/or dull. A complete fumbling of a sci-fi concept full of potential.

A fantastic beginning
Revisado: 03-20-15
I am terribly excited to journey on into the books that follow this one. The only marring feature of this book was that (SPOILERS) the final trip into the blight and the battle at the eye of the world felt very... Compacted. I am not sure how it could have been constructed better, nevertheless it felt apart from the rest of the tale.
