AMAZING! I so want more!
Revisado: 06-27-24
The dichotomy of now vs then (our days vs the Roman legion) is great! With a normal guy thrown in as a new recruit to the legion back then is so intriguing! It simple to understand and the the narrator is phenomenal. You’ll get used to him as you listen, trust me :) I loved every minute of it and even re-listened to certain parts. I hope they make a second book, however this was definitely worth it!

Not a prepper book
Revisado: 10-25-20
Pushed Through 7 chapters and had to stop. A lot of character history and relationship development through out. Mostly focused on how characters interact with each other and very slow movement through the story. Sorry couldn’t keep my interest. Maybe more interesting to a female audience??

So Captivating and Brilliant!!
Revisado: 07-09-20
I thought this short 1 hour story would be dated and past it’s time, being written so long ago. Wow, was I wrong! It could have been written yesterday, definitely worth the few bucks for the entertainment value. Surprisingly futuristic and insightful. I just wish it would have continued!!! Left me wishing for more. SO good.

Another taste!
Revisado: 07-27-18
Thank you Keith C. Blackmore! After reading the entire Mountain man trilogy and finding my self hooked on it like a bad cocaine habit, this was a dream.
Ever enjoyed something so much you wish you had just one more taste? That’s this series for post apocalyptic fans. We can see good Ol’ Gussy pre-collapse, and watch his tubby ass deal with the collapse of civilization! Great series, great characters, and Jeeze.. when your meant to dislike a character Kith let’s you really dislike them, almost as though they were real people.
Loved this series

Historia
Lauren Russell often wondered why her father had been so adamant about teaching her skills that most other fathers wouldn't even consider teaching their daughters. Ever since she was little, she had been taught how to live and survive outdoors, and how to use firearms to protect herself and those around her. Some of the training had been a bit extreme. Or had it been? Many of her questions were answered the day the world as she knew it ended.

For Preppers
Revisado: 09-15-17
Another post apocalyptic novel ringed with the normal atrocities that face the main characters. Don't be put off by the image of a young girl fighting undefinable odds. The book actually focuses on an entire community. This is why I enjoyed this book.
It's a good read and the characters are well defined. No actions are written to be more than a normal person would do, and I appreciate that. It is stereotypical post apocalyptic literature, but enjoyable all the same. I enjoyed listening to this book and am going to buy the next one. I'd say is aimed at the prepper type but also post apocalyptic fans.

Couldn't Stop Listening
Revisado: 06-29-17
I bought this audio book because it was the "sale of the day" and cheep. The sample narrator seemed to catch my interest so why not?
Holy! In no time, I was enthralled with the story. The characters are so relatable it draws you in, and the plot starts off as simple but quickly develops into an adventure of hopes and realistic twists and turns. Very addicting and while I'm not much for adventure novels, this one kept me on my toes. As soon as you think it could end, it opens up so much more! I enjoyed this book very much.
One constructive criticism is that emotions regarding the loss of people or casualties in the book was not Really mentioned. When death happened things just moved forward with minimal impact on the characters. BUT I didn't really want to listen to the heart bleeding / character development around this anyway so it worked out.
Very good read

Wishing for more, would be too greedy
Revisado: 02-19-17
What did you like or dislike?
Being an apocalyptic fiction fan, discovering this book was simply icing on the cake. After spending over 30 captivating and gritty hours listening to the mountain man omnibus (book 1-3), I couldn't believe there was more! This book took the series to a new level while maintaining integrity and realism. Excellent narrative, real Canadian locations and military knowledge, without going over board. It leaves the reader salivating for more fleshy bites!
Whom should you recommend this book to?
Any one who appreciates apocalyptic fiction would likely love this series, even if your tastes are not in the realm of "zombie" horror. Also, it particularly strikes home for Canadians. Being a Canadian soldier myself, this was a refreshing read, knowing the locations and having been to many of them myself.
Why did you choose this rating?
I chose this rating due to the amazing story which only Kieth C. Blackmore could have created. I enjoyed it tremendously. Thank you to R. C. Bray for your perfect narration. The voices and characters you created made this book real for the listener. I can't describe how much Bray added to the realism created and depth of involvement for the listener. It was often as if I was right there with Gus and the Captain.

Good performance by George, but turned out to be a bunch of stand up show bits just strung together. A lot of poor placement and insulting at times. Sorry I paid 3 bucks for the listen. But glad it wasn't more.

Historia
Sinclair Rutherford is a young Seattle cop with a taste for the finer things. Doing menial tasks and getting hassled by superiors he doesn't respect are definitely not "finer things". Good police work and bad luck lead him to crack a case that changes quickly from a career-making break into a high-profile humiliation when footage of his pursuit of the suspect - wildly inappropriate murder weapon in hand - becomes an Internet sensation.

Excellent work Scott
Revisado: 08-22-16
Write your review here:
This book was a truly enjoyable listen due to the abstract thought pattern of the story line. I really didn't know where the plot as going but true the Scott's method, it ALL fit together in the end. It leaves the reader satisfied. They are left nodding their head in approval with Scott's genuine way of combining intrigue with plot continuity. Excellent work.
What did you like or dislike:
I enjoyed listening to a book that was different, but still offered a similar feeling, to that of his trilogy Magic 2.0 (off to be he wizard)
Who would you recommend this book to:
I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a light and perhaps comical read, but also substance and thought provoking chapters. More specifically it's perfect for those left craving more after listening the his trilogy.
Why did you choose this rating:
Because it was good. the book was consistent without spoiling the plot. Luke Daniels, once again offered a phenomenal performance as the narrator and the story was captivating and greatly entertaining.
Thanks for this one Scott Myers

Post Apocalyptic/ survivor/ realistic setting
Revisado: 08-10-16
WARNING! this book is the first of a survivor series. The second has not come out yet, try not to get hooked on it!
If you're like me, you've listened to, most post-apocalyptic, prepper, or zombie books on audible.com. You have the premiss figured out and they are all pretty similar.
However! Despite having NO expectations, Winters edge really impressed me! It's hard, gritty and realistic environment combines well with the fictional survivalist who is the main character. I didn't expect to be pulled into this one, but after the second chapter I couldn't help but keep listening!
The story line leaves you wanting more and having it narrated by Kevin Pearce is the icing on top. Excellent entertainment from this book.
